FINNIGAN STRINGS

Born and raised in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., Kim Finnigan began studying music at the age of five. Her first instrument was the organ and was replaced at the age of nine when she was introduced to the violin. After bing accepted into the National Symphony Orchestra's Young Apprenticeship program at age 16, she decided that music would become her career. Her teacher encouraged her to learn the viola to be amore well rounded teacher, however, the viola quickly became her passion. She declared it her primary instrument when she went to college... Kim recieved her Bachelor's of Music Education from West Virginia University. She went on to teach public school in Norther Virginia for 7 years before decided to take time off to raise her family. She began graduate studies at Shenandoah Conservatory, studying Viola Pedagogy with Doris Lederer of the Audoban Quartet. Kim has performed with numerous large and small groups including Lynchburg Symphony, Prince William Symphony and more..
