FPBA - Key Persons

Luis Barragan

Job Titles:
  • Mexican Architect
Mexican architect Luis Barragan has always been a huge inspiration of mine. His simplistic yet bold use of light and color brings such spirituality to a space. Beyond that, it's hard to choose just one, but Eero Saarinen comes to mind. The way his buildings mimicked organic shapes made them works of art in their own right, not just functional spaces.

Peter Zumthor

Job Titles:
  • Architect
Peter Zumthor is an architect who I constantly turn to for inspiration. Following his teachings that architecture is the backdrop for life, he has helped me better understand how space is used and made me more conscious about how we interact with the built environment on a daily basis. Zumthor's use of simple material palettes is another aspect of his work that influenced many of my projects in school and something that I look to carry into my professional career.

Santiago Calatrava

Santiago Calatrava - I am drawn to the breathtaking feats of architecture and engineering in the service of elegant and humanistic modern forms. The sum of Calatrava's work combines art, architecture and structural systems into harmonious forms that inspire my spirit.

Steven Holl

Tadao Ando

Job Titles:
  • What Architect / Artist / Designer Inspires You and Why?
Tadao Ando, a Japanese architect, has always been my inspiration. His design reflects simplicity and minimalism. I like his emphasis on negative space and spatial circulation, which allows for a holistic experience within his design. I like how he incorporates natural elements like light, water and wind in his design.
