Chip Hambro

Chip Hambro has extensive experience leading the R&D, Engineering, Manufacturing, Operational, and general business functions of technology companies (large multinational corporations as well as small firms), with particular emphasis on turn-arounds and start-ups. Chip joined early stage start-up First Solar in 2001, and as General Manager, and later COO, led the turn-around, technology development, and scale up of the company that is now the largest photovoltaic solar manufacturer in the western hemisphere. He retired from day to day operations in 2009, but still chairs the technology committee of the Board of Directors. Prior to joining First Solar, he held positions of Vice President of Engineering & Business Development for Goodrich Aerospace, Vice President of Operations at ITT Night Vision, and various technical management positions at Varian Associates. Currently, Chip is an Operating Partner at True North Venture Partners, where he serves on the board of portfolio company Aquahydrex, and he recently retired from the board of View Inc, the world's largest electrochromic glass window manufacturer. Chip graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a Bachelor's degree in Physical Science (Applied Physics).

David Plant

David Plant is a solutions-focused engineer with more than 20 years of experience in the technology innovation sector. David, one of the company's first employees, began his career with General Fusion as a systems engineer in 2010. Moving into roles of increasing technical responsibility, he most recently served as Director of Program Management. Prior to joining General Fusion, David worked for Eastman Kodak Company for 12 years in a variety of roles, including manufacturing engineering, electrical engineering, and reliability engineering. David holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Victoria and Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the British Columbia Institute of Technology.

Greg Twinney - CEO

Greg Twinney joined General Fusion in 2020 with a well-established track record of executive leadership. Serving as General Fusion's chief financial officer for two years, he expanded the company's investor base and helped to launch the Fusion Demonstration Program. In 2022, he took the top spot as General Fusion's chief executive officer. Greg's experience prior to joining General Fusion demonstrates his ability to set the groundwork to create massive shareholder value for technology-enabled companies. He worked in varied C-level roles in complex industries, moving companies through all stages of maturity and scale, across all functions of the businesses.

Huw Critchley

He leads the infrastructure strategy's Global Investments, Strategy & Risk group, which performs the functions of the Chief Investment Officer's office for GIC's infrastructure portfolio. Prior to GIC, Huw worked in investment banking with a focus on the energy, power and infrastructure sectors. Jay Brister

Jay Brister has more than 40 years of experience in the global energy industry and power markets. He is a leading expert in business and market development, along with project execution and corporate acquisitions. He most recently led business development for AECOM's Power division out of London, U.K. Previously, he served as the CBDO for Babcock & Wilcox Company's mPower Small Modular Reactor venture and in leadership roles with the engineering company CH2M Hill (now Jacobs). Throughout his career, he held various management roles with utilities in the United States and consulting roles in the U.K., Poland, U.A.E., Canada, Singapore and South Korea. He has successfully concluded $25 billion (USD) in energy-focused transactions.

Kelly Epp

Kelly Epp has more than 30 years of broad engineering, operations, and project management experience, primarily in the deep technology sector. Throughout most of his career, he has led large, multi-disciplinary teams in complex technological environments. Kelly has been with General Fusion for more than a decade, and previously served as Director of Plasma Formation Systems. Today he leads the teams responsible for the rapid prototyping and testing of the company's core machines, including PI3 and LM26. Prior to joining General Fusion, Kelly worked at Kodak (Creo Products) for 15 years, where he served as a Product Support Engineer before moving into the role of Manufacturing Operations Manager. Kelly holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering Physics from the University of British Columbia.

Klaas de Boer - Chairman

Klaas has over 20 years of venture capital experience spanning Europe, North America and the Middle East. From 2006 until 2021, he was the Managing Partner of Entrepreneurs Fund, where his managing portfolio included companies such as inge GmbH (sold to BASF), Technolas Perfect Vision (sold to Bausch & Lomb), Prosonix Ltd (sold to Circassia), Lifeline Scientific Inc (sold to Genext), New Motion (sold to Shell) and Optinose (Nasdaq listing). In addition to General Fusion, he currently chairs AIM-listed Xeros Technology Group and serves on the Boards of SmartKem and veriNOS pharmaceuticals. Klaas is also an investment committee member for Future Fund: Breakthrough, a UK government-backed direct co-investment fund for late-stage deep tech companies. Klaas started his career with McKinsey & Company in Amsterdam. From there, he joined Vanenburg Group where he established and managed a corporate venturing team that led investments in Europe, Israel and the US, which included WebEx. Klaas has an MSc in Applied Physics from Delft University of Technology, and an MBA from Insead.

Kurt Schoenberg

Kurt is an accomplished physicist and scientific leader with over 30 years of experience at large and complex R&D organizations, facilities, and projects. At the Los Alamos National Laboratory, he developed and led major research initiatives in neutron-based science, high energy density physics, inertial confinement science, magnetic fusion energy, plasma-based manufacturing, plasma-based space propulsion, and more. Most recently, Kurt was a member of the senior management team at Los Alamos, where he was Director of the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center (LANSCE) and Deputy Associate Laboratory Director for Experimental Physical Sciences. As LANSCE Director, he led the Laboratory's premier accelerator-based facility for national security, energy security, isotope production, and fundamental science research. He also directed experimental physical science research in material science, nuclear physics, and plasma physics within the Physical Sciences Directorate at Los Alamos. Today, Kurt is managing partner of Applied Science Enterprises LLC, a scientific consulting company providing science-based counsel to government and industry. He also serves as the Spokesperson for the High Energy Density Physics Collaboration (HED@FAIR) at the Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR). Kurt received his B.S. in Engineering Physics with high honours from the University of Illinois in 1972 and earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1979.

Luke Han

Luke Han is a Director in the Enterprise Development Group at Temasek, covering investments in Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions, financing platforms, and clean energy sectors. Luke joined Temasek in 2004. He is based in Singapore and has spent eight years covering natural resources, and four years prior on technology. Luke holds a bachelor's degree in Business Management (Finance) from the Singapore Management University.

Martin Cox

Martin has over 45 years of fusion research experience with the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA). His initial research focused on the theory and computer modelling of external energy sources and heat and drive currents in fusion plasmas. He later became responsible for a variety of UKAEA projects, including the construction of the MAST spherical tokamak and its subsequent upgrade. From 2008 until 2012, he was responsible for the operation of the JET facility at the UKAEA's Culham Campus. He was also the Project Sponsor for the installation of the ITER-like Wall into JET to test the materials on plasma performance. Since stepping down from his role as Director of Strategy and Technology in 2018, Martin continues to work for the UKAEA part-time as a Senior Advisor while undertaking work for other clients. Outside of his work at Culham, Martin has been involved in global initiatives relating to fusion and other high-technology activities. From 2002 until 2007, he advised on the Large Hadron Collider Project at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). He was a member of the ITER Technical Advisory Group from 2007 to 2010 and was on the ITER External Management Advisory Board from 2015 to 2016. From 2016 until 2019, he was Chair of the Fusion for Energy (F4E) Administration and Management Committee and Vice Chair of its Governing Board. He has also participated in many reviews of other UK and international projects, including EAST, NSTX-U, and the European Spallation Source.
