Ashley promotes awareness of and engagement with Indiana Youth Institute through internal and external communications. In addition to her background in advertising, community building, and nonprofit marketing, Ashley holds a Masters of Elementary Education. She taught 2nd grade for three years in Washington Township and served as grade level Professional Learning Committee lead. August holds their MSW and BSW from IU School of Social Work and has worked in out-of-school time, youth work, nonprofit, and school settings in downtown Indianapolis for a decade. They are passionate about youth work, service delivery, and education that cultivates self-efficacy and increases social capital among marginalized populations. Christine is focused on providing the financial and technology structures needed for staff and the board to make informed decisions. This is both a strategic and operational role as Christine contributes to defining the organization's strategic direction, streamlining financial, technological and procedural policies and creating monitoring and accountability systems. Prior to her work at IYI, Christine served as the chief financial officer of Alpha Chi Omega Fraternity serving on the senior staff as a key contributor in many strategic initiatives surrounding on-campus facilities. Christine also has 15 years of finance and accounting experience in the public service sector and manufacturing. Having volunteered extensively within her son's school and with the Boy Scouts of America, Christine felt a deep connection to the mission of IYI and improving the lives of Indiana children. Clint Kugler

Clint leads IYI's community engagement and advocacy efforts. His focus includes engaging and empowering IYI's partners and peers with resources, services, and connections to champion kids and strengthen communities. Before joining IYI in 2018, Clint worked for 20 years for the YMCA, most recently serving as the Wabash County YMCA CEO. Throughout his career, Clint has worked collaboratively to address pressing community issues such as closing achievement gaps and increasing student access to education assets beyond high school. In 2013, he was honored with the Sagamore of the Wabash Award for Promise Indiana's development and leadership: a research-based, asset-rich college and career readiness initiative, helping youth establish child savings accounts and forming college-saver identity. Clint holds a master's degree in human service in organizational leadership and management from Springfield College and a bachelor's degree from Olivet Nazarene University. Donielle serves as a key component to the Finance and Operations team by providing organizational efficiency using her project management experience. In her role, she will assist with monthly accounts receivable/payable duties, bank reconciliations, in addition to some technology and systems coordination. Prior to joining IYI, Donielle served as the Volunteer Manager at Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis. Tami Shields Silverman is hired as Indiana Youth Institutes new president and CEO Tami Silverman leads the Institute's vision, constructing and implementing strategies to fulfill our mission of statewide child success. Working with the board of directors, Tami determines the overall direction of IYI. She also serves as the organization's primary spokesperson, advocating for programs, innovations, and policies that benefit children and youth. Tami draws upon her 25 years of experience managing teams to set the stage for dedicated, curious and focused individuals to create positive impact and lasting change. Since being appointed president and chief executive officer in 2016, Tami has spearheaded efforts to update IYI's response to the needs of children and the field of youth service. A new strategic plan was introduced in 2017, followed by an organizational re-design, an update of internal technology, and a revamp of the organization's approach to outreach and engagement. Throughout each of these efforts, Tami has relentlessly infused feedback from youth workers, community leaders and everyone working to help kids. She currently serves on the Indiana Department of Workforce Development's Cabinet Youth Committee, the Indiana Criminal Justice Authority's Juvenile Justice State Advisory Group and Indiana University's Society of Aeons. Tami brings to IYI a clear understanding of the challenges faced by many children and families through her experience in family violence prevention and youth leadership and service. It was while working with thousands of homeless, often traumatized children that she confronted first-hand how some children face seemingly insurmountable challenges while others are born with immense resources and support. This has sparked her passion for ensuring that all children can reach their full potential. Tami was raised in Bloomington, Indiana by a family of educators. Including her parents and spouse, Tami's family includes 16 Indiana teachers, counselors, and school administrators. She received a bachelor's degree from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business and master's and doctorate degrees in public administration from the University of Illinois. After an early career in the private sector, she shifted to the nonprofit sector in 1997, where she continues her family's tradition of serving children and families. Tami spent her high school and college summers participating in international exchange programs, living and learning with families around the world. These formative experiences have sparked a lifelong curiosity about diverse people, places, and cultures. Today one of her greatest joys is traveling, both across the country and around the globe, with her beloved and supportive husband, Ross, and their two teenage children. Heather L. Savage

Heather serves as an advocate and thought partner for youth-serving organizations to develop and implement ways to best target and support communities comprised of at-risk youth. Heather collaborates with youth-serving organizations in the Central region and statewide to provide resources to ensure that youth workers are equipped with the tools needed to help children, families, and communities reach their full potential. Heather comes to IYI from the Indiana Department of Child Services, where she served as Family Case Manager Supervisor with over 7.5 years of child welfare experience. Jennifer Darby - COO

As IYI's Chief Operating Officer, Jennifer Darby is responsible for overseeing the organization's operating processes. She is a successful human service professional with 26 years of experience in the nonprofit sector and previously served as IYI's Vice President of Advancement and previously as the Vice President of Advancement and Programs for Indiana Black Expo, Inc. Jennifer holds a M.P.A. in Non-Profit Management and a Graduate Certificate in Public Management from Indiana University/Purdue University at Indianapolis. Jennifer Darby is a member of the Heartland Advisory Council and the RISE Indy Advisory Council. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Catch the Stars Foundation, Inc., Indianapolis Charter School Board, and previously served on the Board of Directors for Irvington Community Schools. Jennifer describes her role in the community as one which helps individuals by providing them with the support, tools, training, and latitude to pursue their goals and become the best they can possibly be. This is accomplished through sharing knowledge, skills, and access to the community, which informs them of available opportunities for success. As the VP of Advancement, she is responsible for identifying new revenue through multiple avenues as well as maintaining and elevating current investors and donors. Michele has over twenty-five years of experience in strategic development as well as grant management and donor engagement in both the non-profit and governmental sectors. She previously served as Senior Team Leader for Local Engagement Programs for the National FFA Organization for fourteen years where she provided leadership and strategic management for the development, implementation, and evaluation of grant programs, scholarships, financial assistance programs, and other grassroots initiatives Michele has a bachelor's degree in education and while she only taught for two years, her professional journey has always centered around youth development, education, and the identification and creation of resources to support youth. Her position at IYI still supports her core values of service, education, and inclusion. Michele is a crafter who loves to read. Whitney Johnson

Whitney leads IYI's professional education and consulting efforts. As the VP of Programming, she is responsible for building the capacity of youth-serving professionals and organizations to better lead statewide efforts to improve the safety, education, health, and wellbeing of all children and youth. Whitney holds an M.P.A. in Non-Profit Leadership from Indiana Wesleyan University. She has over ten years of experience in youth development and the nonprofit sector and previously served as the Director of Organizational Operations at the Coalition for Homelessness Intervention and Prevention (CHIP). She also served as the Senior Manager of Programs for the Center for Leadership Development. Whitney knew her career would involve impacting the lives of young people when she became a 12th grade English teacher in Baltimore, MD. IYI allows her still to have a pulse and impact on the future generation while also providing the opportunity to be a collaborative leader. Whitney is a foodie who loves the performing arts.
