Erica Miller Tallent, our associate attorney, is the newest addition to our team. Erica is a local girl with degrees from Davidson College and UNC Law. She ably assists Becky and myself and it a real value add for the clients. My clients love my two paralegals. Bobbie Little joined the firm as a high school student. More than 30 years later, she has the optimal blend of patience and experience. Brandi Ballard rounds out our team. Brandi has high energy and puts her 20 years with the firm to great use every day. As a Lincoln County native, and West Lincoln High School graduate, Erica recognizes the importance of community. Divorces and separations can be one of the most stressful times of your life, and Erica finds it rewarding to be able to help her neighbors and community through these tumultuous times. As one of the three lawyers in the family law team, Erica works to make sure clients understand the process, are educated on their options, and are represented to the best of their abilities. She recognizes that this is often a process no one wants to be involved in and works diligently to make sure everything is as seamless and efficient as possible. Johnathan Rhyne and Rebecca Yoder, the other two members of the family law team, are both certified by the North Carolina State Bar as specialist in family law, and all work together to employ strategies that will most effectively achieve your goals. In addition to the three attorneys, our paralegal staff, Bobbie and Brandi, have over 30 - and 20- years' experience with our firm, respectively. Erica is a lifelong resident of Lincoln County, North Carolina and has been involved in the community since a young age. Since 2015, Erica has served her community as the director of the local Miss Lincoln County Apple Queen Pageant, awarding over $50,000 in scholarships to Lincoln County women. She is heavily involved in the Lincoln County Business Professional Women group, as well as other non-profit organizations in Lincoln County. She graduated from Davidson College in 2019 with her B.A. She received her law degree (J.D. 2022) from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she graduated in the Top 10 students, summa cum laude and was a member of the North Carolina Law Review. While in law school, Erica received the certificate of merit in her Personal Income Taxation course and was an enrichment group leader for both Contract and Real Property courses as well as an Honors Writing Scholar. Upon graduation, Erica was inducted into the Order of the Coif and accumulated over 100 hours of pro bono service hours. In her free time, Erica enjoys spending time with her husband John Dock Tallent, and their puppy, Penelope. They enjoy going back to Davidson and Chapel Hill for sporting events on campus, as well as attending as many events downtown as they can. Rebecca's practice area is focused on residential real estate, probate, and estate planning. Rebecca closes loans for home purchases, refinance and equity lines as well as residential investment properties. Additionally, Rebecca spends time working with family members when a loved one passes away handling their final affairs and settling of estates. She works with many clients on estate planning including preparation of Wills, Financial Powers of Attorney and Healthcare Power of Attorneys as well as Guardianships. Rebecca grew up in the Lincoln County residing in the Denver area most of her childhood years. She attended East Lincoln High School and completed her high school education at Rocky Mount Academy in Rocky Mount, North Carolina where she met her husband, W. Todd Pomeroy. She attended Salem College in Winston Salem for two years and graduated from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. Prior to law school Rebecca worked in Rocky Mount, North Carolina for the Poyner and Spruill Law Firm. Rebecca attended Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, graduating in 1996. In 1996, Rebecca returned to Lincolnton, North Carolina to become a fourth-generation member of the firm and pursue her childhood dream of practicing law with her grandfather, Harvey A. Jonas, Jr. and has remained at the firm for her entire legal career. Rebecca and her husband, the Honorable W. Todd Pomeroy, became partners with the firm in 2000. Rebecca continues as a partner for the firm and her husband left the firm in 2015 after being appointed as a Superior Court Judge for the 27B Judicial District. Rebecca has been a member and treasurer for the Lincoln County Bar Association since 1996. Rebecca is also a member of the 27B Bar Association and the North Carolina Bar Association. She is a former member of the Lincolnton Rotary Club, the Downtown Development Program for Lincolnton and the Hospice Board. Rebecca is a former Trustee for First United Methodist Church of Lincolnton where she is a member and was actively involved in setting up the Safe Sanctuary Program for the church. Rebecca is currently the Bar Councilor for the North Carolina State Bar for the 27B district and an outside Board Member with First Federal Savings Bank of Lincolnton. Rebecca and her husband, Todd, were married in law school and have one child, Elijah Jonas Pomeroy. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, attending her son's sporting events, being involved in her son's school, and time at her second home in Blowing Rock. Rob is a real estate lawyer with over 28 years of experience in a broad range of transactions, including multifamily developments, mixed-use projects, industrial and office park developments, condominiums, residential subdivisions, and land use planning and zoning matters. He regularly counsels his clients in the areas of contract negotiations, due diligence, documenting and planning for real estate developments, real estate closings, and obtaining permanent financing solutions, including SBA and HUD loans. Rob also has significant experience with municipal and county land use planning and zoning issues and has a strong track record of zoning approvals in Lincoln, Gaston, Catawba, and Iredell Counties. Rob utilizes a practical approach to solving the complex legal issues his developer, corporate end user, and individual property owner clients encounter across a variety of commercial real estate transactions. Rob has acquired a keen understanding of his client's needs and takes a unique approach when negotiating transactions that focuses on creating efficient and prospective solutions to make his client's visions and goals a reality. Rob attended Appalachian State University, and then graduated from Regent University School of Law, and has been a member of the NC State Bar since 1995. He served in the N.C. Army National Guard for six years and received an honorable discharge after attaining the rank of Sergeant (E-5).Rob has been a pillar in the community for most of his career. He has served numerous terms as President of the Lincoln Charter School Board, acted as Chairman of the Board of Managers of the Lincoln Family YMCA and Sally's YMCA, and served on the Boards for Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce, Communities in Schools, and the American Red Cross.
