On March 23, 1967, the City Council of the City of Nocona approved an ordinance to establish a Hospital Authority. After much time, research, and consideration, the Authority decided in January 1971 that area residents could best be served by the creation of a Hospital District to include both he Nocona and Prairie Valley Texas school districts. With that, the Hospital District was created in August 1971. Construction of the hospital began in November 1972 and was completed in early 1974. Nocona General Hospital began operations on April 15, 1974 with the admission of the first patient...
