Jerry Liss, of Kent, Ohio, started the business with his remaining US Navy pay, after working for Ron Pisanello, in the early-1960s. It was the inspiration of Pisanello's recipe that drove Jerry to start his own business. Jerry chose Bowling Green, because of the growing student population of BGSU, and soon discovered that his pizza was a hit.
