Silk Road Dance Company was founded in 1995 by Artistic Director Dr. Laurel Victoria Gray - World Dance professor at George Washington University - and recipient of the "Xalqlar Do'stligi" Medal from the Government of Uzbekistan for her decades of work in preserving and promoting Uzbek dance culture.
