Cary Sherburne

Cary Sherburne is a recognized speaker and author, skilled at building brand awareness and internal/external communications effectiveness. She and her team have extensive experience in packaging and marketing technology-oriented products and services; organizing and developing materials for company meetings, events and seminars; and in delivering bottom line results through building and executing benchmark marketing and public relations initiatives. Sherburne & Associates are dedicated to their clients' success and to improving results through creative image and effective communications strategy design and implementation. Cary Sherburne is a well-known author, journalist and marketing consultant whose practice is focused on marketing communications strategies for the printing, packaging, publishing and textiles industries. She was recognized as a 2009 Woman of Distinction by Output Links and was awarded the 2009 Thomas McMillan Award for excellence in journalism. In 2015, Sherburne was inducted into the prestigious Soderstrom Society and received the 2015 Girlie Award from Girls Who Print. Sherburne has written six books, including Digital Paths to Profit, published by NAPL; and most recently, No-Nonsense Innovation: Practical Strategies for Success, written with the late Bill Lowe, the Father of the IBM PC and available on Amazon. She has also ghost-written several books for busy executives, for whom she makes the process simple and efficient, and edited a number of books written by industry professionals. In addition to her role as Senior Editor at WhatTheyThink, the leading online news and analysis resource for the printing, packaging, publishing and textiles industries, she is the section manager for WhatTheyThink's textile's section which reports on the analog-to-digital transformation the industry is undergoing. Sherburne occasionally writes for other trade magazines and associations, as well as creating by-lined editorial and other marketing materials for private clients.

David Zwang

David Zwang, is a former commercial Photographer, owner of 2 Prepress and Printing companies, and currently the principal consultant of Zwang & Company. He specializes in strategic business planning, analysis, and related services to companies in the vertical Publishing market. Clients have included US Government agencies, manufacturers, retailers, publishers, premedia and print companies around the globe. His ability to look at systems and processes and optimize them using both people and technologies has benefited his clients and driven his success. His experience includes an extensive background in Electronic Premedia and printing technologies, including; Offset, Digital, Flexo, and Gravure. Zwang also offers consulting services to manufacturers on product development and marketing in the field of publishing support, with a specific emphasis on data driven design, premedia, and print production.

Frank Romano

Frank Romano has spent over 40 years in the printing and publishing industries. Many know him best as the editor of the International Paper Pocket Pal or from the hundreds of articles he has written for publications from North America and Europe to the Middle East to Asia and Australia. He is the author of over 44 books, including the 10,000-term Encyclopedia of Graphic Communications (with Richard Romano), the standard reference in the field. His books on QuarkXPress, Adobe InDesign, and PDF workflow were among the first in their fields. He has authored most of the books on digital printing. His latest book is the 800-page textbook for Moscow State University. He has founded eight publications, serving as publisher or editor for TypeWorld/Electronic Publishing (which ended in its 30th year of publication), Computer Artist, Color Publishing, The Typographer, EP&P, and both the NCPA and PrintRIT Journals. His columns appear monthly in the Digital Printing Report. He is the editor of the EDSF Report. Romano lectures extensively, having addressed virtually every club, association, group, and professional organization at one time or another. He is one of the industry's foremost keynote speakers. He has consulted for major corporations, publishers, government, and other users of digital printing and publishing technology. He wrote the first report on on-demand digital printing in 1980 and ran the first conference on the subject in 1985. He has conceptualized many of the workflow and applications techniques of the industry and was the principal researcher on the landmark EDSF study, Printing in the Age of the Web and Beyond. He has been quoted in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Times of London, USA Today, Business Week, Forbes, and many other newspapers and publications, as well as on TV and radio. He has partnered with InfoTrends on strategic information for the printing industry. He continues to teach courses at RIT and other universities and works with students on unique research projects.

John Zarwan

J Zarwan Partners works closely with a select number of companies, guiding them to develop and implement more effective and efficient business strategies. Their clients, which include commercial printing and packaging industry leaders, benefit from his extensive experience in improving profitability; addressing and managing change; market strategy and implementation; and product planning and positioning. John Zarwan, founding partner, has been in the graphic arts, printing, and digital media industry for 30 years and is internationally recognized for his independent perspective, knowledge and insight on trends in the industry. He has spoken at major industry events and conferences around the world, and his articles on print markets and technology have appeared in various print and web journals. Prior to founding J Zarwan Partners, Dr. Zarwan was principal of State Street Consultants and held senior management positions in finance, marketing, and product management at NEC and Agfa (Compugraphic). Dr. Zarwan is an alumnus of Grinnell College, Stanford University, Yale University, and the Stern School of Business of New York University and was on the faculty of the College of Charleston, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the University of Prince Edward Island.

Richard Romano

Richard Romano has been involved in the graphic arts industry since before birth, and is currently a contributing writer and analyst for WhatTheyThink.com. In addition to writing features and special reports on media and communication trends and technology, he collaborates with the Economic and Research Center's Dr. Joe Webb on regular economic and demographic reports. He has been writing annual printing and creative reports for the past 10 years, and was the editorial director for Dr. Webb's landmark 2009 book Renewing the Printing Industry. For eight years, Richard was Senior Analyst for The Industry Measure (formerly TrendWatch Graphic Arts), until its demise in March 2008. In addition to writing numerous reports, articles, and the popular weekly Fast Facts e-letter, he presented (or co-presented) the annual "Forecast Breakfast" at Graph Expo for eight years. Richard has also been a featured speaker at various graphic arts industry seminars and conventions, including the HOW Design Conference, Print, Macworld, Graphics of the Americas, and more. His areas of expertise include media and marketing trends, graphic communications, science, and technology. He has also worked on consulting and market research projects for many organizations and companies, such as GAMIS/PRIMIR (a 2003 landmark offset press installed base study and a 2005 run-length study), Scientific Computing magazine (2005 and 2007 Laboratory Information Management Systems studies), Publishers Weekly magazine (several book and audiobook studies), and Library Journal, as well as Adobe Systems, Hewlett-Packard, Vio, and others. He has also contributed to such magazines as Graphic Arts Monthly, GATFWorld, Printing News, HOW, and others. He is the former executive editor of, CrossMedia magazine, and former managing editor of Micro Publishing News and Digital Imaging magazines. Romano is the co-editor, with his father Frank Romano, of The GATF Encyclopedia of Graphic Communications, a compendium of more than 10,000 graphic arts terms published in 1997 by the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation. As if that weren't enough, he is also the author of a half dozen or so books on graphics hardware and software. Richard also does freelance editorial and graphic design work as Rich Text & Graphics. He has vague recollections of having graduated from Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communications in 1989 with a B.A. in English and Writing for Telecommunications, and has a 1994 certificate in Multimedia Production from New York University. A former resident of such disparate places as Salem, NH, New York, NY, and Los Angeles, CA, he now lives in Saratoga Springs, NY.
