CRAFTSMEN - Key Persons

Jesse Friede

Job Titles:
  • Foreman
The reason Jesse is a carpenter is because he likes bringing dreams and plans to life. Jesse has 14 years of carpentry experience, 10 of which have been on Chicago's north shore. He has managed half-million dollar home addition projects, and can also fix your troublesome door. Jesse's can-do attitude has endeared him to many home owners. When Jesse isn't working, he's fixing up his house, spending time with his seven year old son, or fishing.

Lightning Atkinson

Job Titles:
  • Operations Manager
Lightning joined the Craftsmen Group in January of 2010 in the newly created role of operations manager. He grew up in suburban Philadelphia flipping houses with his dad and is familiar with the construction process and the special challenges of older homes. He brings to the team unique and varied experience from outside the construction industry. Prior to being hired at The Craftsmen Group, he spent 12 years in the professional audio industry. His resume includes gigs with Willie Nelson, Spin Doctors, Trout Fishing in America, and Busta Rhymes. He has written two books on audio engineering, built radio stations all over the country, and mixed live sound for thousands of concerts and special events. He also started and operated a catering company with his wife while they lived in Philadelphia. As operations manager of The Craftsmen Group, Lightning oversees the day-to-day functioning of the business, implements new systems, and is involved in project management. He lives on the north side of Chicago with his wife and two sons (who share a common birthday). If you can't find him at work, on a job site, or at home, he's probably canoeing.

Terry Albaugh - President

Job Titles:
  • President
Terry founded The Craftsmen Group in 2007 after many successful years as a carpenter, project manager and partner at a long-standing North Shore general contractor. Terry's professional experience before carpentry is vast and surprising. His fraternity involvement while at Purdue University earned him national recognition as a young leader to watch. His professional life started with Accenture back when it was Arthur Andersen consulting. Terry left the corporate world in favor of entrepreneurship when he joined other Purdue Alumni in starting the Dodson Group. Dodson brokered services for business environments. He owned his own financial planning firm for a dozen years, was in sales for American Hotel Register and even spent some time on staff at Willow Creek Community Church. Along the way Terry earned a masters degree in counseling psychotherapy, owned a deck building business and became a father. Today he lives in Evanston with his wife and daughter. If you can't find him in the office, on a job site, or at home, he's probably hiking.
