I am a solicitor based in our Coalville office working in the care and family department. I completed my LPC and masters of law at Nottingham Trent University in 2017.
I am currently employed as a part-time paralegal working for Mander Cruickshank Solicitors.
I have been employed in that role since 4th May 2010, following early retirement. Being a paralegal, means I am a legal assistant to the solicitors within the firm and in my case, I concentrate on family / children matters in the care team.

Anthony is our Finance Manager, Compliance Officer (Financial Administration) and Head of our Accounts Team.
I have extensive knowledge in the niche area of Legal Accounting having trained and gained experience in a top 20 London Law Firm.
Starting as a Junior Cashier I progressed through the ranks to Senior Client Cashier before moving to Mander Cruickshank Solicitors as Senior Cashier in 2015. I have thorough knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules and other compliance regulations for Law Firms.
In November 2018 I was appointed Finance Manager and COFA for the firm. I look after all financial matters and head up the accounts department.
Outside of work I am a keen fisherman. I also enjoy watching Football and Formula One.

Barrie is a Senior Solicitor and Solicitor-Advocate working in our Criminal Defence team.
Barrie is a vastly experienced advocate who qualified over 30 years ago, specialising in all aspects of Criminal Law. Barrie is well respected within the criminal defence community, and has an excellent reputation acquired as a result of his thorough and meticulous eye for detail and his ability to extract information robustly from witnesses under cross-examination.
Barrie has a strong own-client following who respect his no nonsense clear advice.

Ella graduated with a Law Degree from Birmingham City University in 2019. She then joined Mander Cruickshank Solicitors in 2020 after completing the Legal Practice Course and her Masters qualification at the University of Law.
She works in the conveyancing department where she assists the team in providing a smooth and efficient transaction for our clients from start to finish. She is friendly, chatty, and willing to assist in any way she can.

Emma joined Mander Cruickshank in 2006 and initially worked on reception. She has a good work ethic and eye for detail, so it did not take long for her to work up the ranks and become a Legal Secretary and PA to Paul Tubb, one of the Partners and Head of Criminal Defence at Mander Cruickshank.

I also deal with the administration of estates when people have passed away. As this can be an extremely difficult time for those involved, I want clients to feel like they can turn to me for advice on what needs to be done and how. To this end I am happy to meet initially for a no obligation chat.
In addition I advise in relation to Lasting Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection applications. A Lasting Power of Attorney allows you to plan ahead. You can choose now which relative or friend should make decisions for you in the future if you are ever unable to make decisions yourself. If a friend or family member hasn't managed to make such plans, a Court of Protection application may need to be made so that the right person can be appointed to make decisions on behalf of a person who is no longer able to do so.

Jill is a Senior Solicitor Consultant in the Mental Health Department. She is a member of the Law Society's Mental Health Accreditation Scheme and also holds Higher Rights of Audience (Criminal)
Jill qualified as a Solicitor in 1983, starting her career as a Criminal Solicitor in a Legal 500 firm. Jill developed a reputation as a Youth Court and serious crime advocate and was ranked number 1 for crime in the Midlands in Chambers Legal Directory.
She now specialises in representing detained patients in hospitals across the region and beyond. Jill has a particular expertise in representing young people and those who have been given a hospital order by the Court. She still represents patients in the Criminal Courts and the Police Station. She has an excellent reputation for the standard of her advocacy.
In her spare time Jill reluctantly runs, loves to spend time with her family, allows her Labrador to take her for walks and enjoys live music.

As a Paralegal in the Care Department, I specialise in range of care matters from Social Services Involvement, attending Case Conferences and pre-proceedings meetings, as well as providing assistance to the care solicitors with Care Proceedings and the representation of a child/children through a CAFCASS Guardian in disputes between parents.
I completed my Law Degree in 2002 and have been working in the area of care and family law since 2003. I joined Mander Cruickshank in 2016, having previously worked for the Local Authority dealing with child protection cases for 12 years.
I have extensive knowledge of this very sensitive area of law and understand the importance of dealing with matters delicately and with sensitivity.
Josie started her legal career by doing a 2 year Legal Secretarial course at Dunstable College. I started as a junior thereafter and worked my way up to where I am today.
I worked in Luton/Dunstable until I moved up to the Midlands in 1988 and then worked in Birmingham City Centre. I then moved to Tamworth in 1993 took time off with my children for approximately 7 years and became a qualified child minder. During this time times changed between work processors to computers so I had to do 2 computers course simultaneously over a 12 week period to get myself up to speed with modern technology.

Katarzyna is a Consultant Solicitor-Advocate in our Mental Health Department.
She is a Member of the Law Society's Mental Health Accreditation Scheme.
Katarzyna advises, assists and represents patients detained under the provisions of the Mental Health Act 1983.
She specialises in representing patients detained under the forensic sections of the Mental Health Act 1983.
Katarzyna Podkowik has particular expertise in:
Advising, assisting and representing clients detained on civil and forensic sections of the Mental Health Act 1983;
Specialising in advising, assisting and representing Polish nationals and forensic/high secure patients before the First-tier Tribunals,
Advising and assisting mentally disordered inmates at Her Majesty Prisons;
Conducting Judicial Review, Upper Tribunal and Court of Appeal cases - reported in Richard Jones' Mental Health Act Manual.
Katarzyna advises and represents either the individual detained under the provisions of the Mental Health Act 1983 or their Nearest Relatives.
Where a patient has stated that they do not wish to conduct their own case or that they wish to be represented before the First-tier Tribunal or a patient lacks the capacity to instruct a solicitor for him/herself, Katarzyna is frequently appointed by the Tribunals Service under the provisions of Rule 11 (7) (a) or (b) of the Tribunal Procedure Rules 2008 to represent a patient before a Tribunal panel.
Training
Katarzyna is involved in preparing and delivering courses to mental health nurses, mental health charities, doctors, mental health professionals, patients and their carers.
Katarzyna has also been involved in preparing a weekly Mental Health Newsletters providing practical guidance and assistance on complicated and ever-changing world of mental health law including Tribunal and Hospital Managers practice and procedure.

Lisa is primarily a paralegal in the Mental Health Department. Lisa has several other roles however, including supporting the Mental Health Solicitors as their Personal Assistant, acting as first contact for Family client enquiries and appointments, and also assists with general administration within the firm.
Lisa has a keen eye for detail and accuracy, and as such she has been appointed the Training Administrator for the firm, facilitating maintenance of all Mander Cruickshank training arrangements and records.

Louise has been part of the Mander Cruickshank team since July 2015.
Having extensive experience in customer facing roles, she initially joined our reception team. It did not take long for her to impress and progress, and she now works as a Paralegal within the Wills and Probate Department.
Outside of work, Louise is a huge Leicester City Football fan and is a season ticket holder.
I completed a paralegal apprenticeship with Coventry University in May 2021, and am now completing the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives Level 6 course whilst working at Mander Cruickshank Solicitors.
I have recently graduated from the University of Derby with a first-class honours law degree.
I will now be starting the Legal Practice Course to advance my legal career.

I am the P.A. to Kathryn Hicklin, the head of the Family Department.
I have 30 years' experience in legal matters, over 20 years of which have been specialised in family matters. I assist with the management of Kathryn's diary as well as preparing court documents as well as keeping clients appraised of developments in their matters.
I recently completed my law degree at the University of Law and will be starting my Legal Practice Course in September 2022 whilst working at Mander Cruickshank LLP.

Steve is a Mental Health Accredited Panel member & has 9 years' experience within the field of Mental Health Law and is the Head of our Mental Health Department.
Steve has built up good connections with Mental Health Act Administrators, Psychiatrists, Social workers, Nurses and Community Psychiatric Nurses during his time within Mental Health in the West Midlands and is highly thought of by these professionals.
I am a criminal defence solicitor with 15 years advocacy experience in the magistrates court. I am duty qualified and represent organisations and individuals charged with a wide range of offences from road traffic matters to complex frauds and murder investigations.
I started at Manders in August 2019 and have settled into my role well after being warmly welcomed by the whole team who are friendly, approachable and professional at all times.
Yasmeen graduated with a first class Law Degree in 2021 and is currently completing her Legal Practice Course and Masters qualification at the University of Law.
Yasmeen assists Sue Pendleton as Head of Department in the Property and Conveyancing Department by ensuring smooth transactions from start to finish.
