David joined the group in 2004 as an investor and project manager for the Waverly at Surfside condominium conversion. The following two years marked a peak in our firm's acquisitions. In 2006, we became aware that that the real estate market was changing rapidly and drastically. The deteriorating market combined with the fear of increasing tax rates on capital gains mobilized Margolias Realty Group to sell the majority of their portfolio. With no attractive acquisitions on the horizon, we turned our focus inward and decided to combine Margolias Realty Group and Atlanta Leasing Associates into one. The name Atlanta Leasing & Investment was chosen as it reflects the full spectrum of what we do.
Jared has a diverse background in entrepreneurship and commercial real estate. Prior to co-founding Unreal Capital and joining AL&I, Jared was Vice President of Investments at SK Commercial Realty, where he assisted in the creation of SK's Investment Sales division. Before that, Jared was as an associate at ScottMadden Management Consultants.
Jared has a wealth of experience in entrepreneurial ventures, having co-founded and served as a managing partner of Insomnia Cookies, a national retail cookie chain that sold to Krispy Kreme in 2018. Jared also assisted in the startup operations of MDVIP, a national concierge medical practice purchased by P&G for $600 million.
Jared earned his JD from the University of Georgia School of Law and his MBA in Real Estate from the University of Georgia's Terry College of Business. He has a Bachelor of Arts in History and a minor in Real Estate from the University of Pennsylvania. Jared is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the American Bar Association.Jared Barnett
Spencer has worked in commercial real estate for over 15 years, specializing in acquisitions and investment sales. Before co-founding Unreal Capital and joining AL&I, Spencer was a Senior Vice President at SK Commercial Realty, where he created the Investment Sales division of the firm. Prior to that, Spencer was Vice President and Senior Analyst at Ackerman & Co., after beginning his career as an Acquisitions Analyst at Levy Affiliated Holdings in Santa Monica.
Throughout his career, Spencer has underwritten $2+ billion in commercial real estate assets, helping to transact over 3 million square feet of commercial property. Over the past decade, Spencer has assisted with the acquisition and/or sale of over $500 million of commercial property across the United States.
Spencer has an MBA in Finance and Real Estate from University of Georgia's Terry School of Business, a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction from the University of Michigan in Organizational Studies and Communications. Spencer is a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), and is a Life Member and Phoenix Award recipient of the ATLCBR Million Dollar Club.
