Dennis Ledbetter - CEO

Dennis Ledbetter joined Hoffman McClain Consulting as a managing partner in our financial services division. Prior to joining Hoffman McClain, Dennis spent 21 years in the financial services field in various leadership capacities. He began his career with Prudential-Bache Securities (later Prudential Securities) in 1987 in Atlanta, Georgia as the Branch Manager of the Mid-Town office. Dennis doubled the size of the office by recruiting high quality FA's from the competition and helping them in the growth of their business. In 1990, Dennis was promoted and became the Manager of the Prudential Securities office in Charleston, West Virginia. The office was, and continued to be, a top performing branch under his leadership. Once again, Dennis displayed his recruiting talents by growing the office 40% through competitive hires. Then, in September of 2002, Dennis joined Merrill Lynch and served as the Director of the Charleston, West Virginia complex which included six offices in West Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio. He grew the number of FA's through successfully recruiting high quality and high performance FA's from the competition. A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Dennis is a graduate of Texas Christian University. He began his sales career with Xerox Corporation where he was a sales rep, an instructor in the sales training school, and a sales manager. Dennis and his wife, Cheryl, have four children and two grandchildren. Dennis and Cheryl moved to Charleston, SC where they opened an office for Hoffman McClain Consulting. Dennis will focus on the financial services arena while Cheryl will serve as a managing partner in Hoffman McClain's healthcare division.

Mark Hoffman

Mark Hoffman is the founder and managing partner of Hoffman McClain Consulting. Mark oversees the strategic direction of the firm and focuses on quality control and the growth of the business. Prior to starting the firm, Mark held dual roles as Recruiting Director and Sales Manager for the Southeast Region at Merrill Lynch. During his tenure as Recruiting Director, Mark successfully recruited over 150 Financial Advisors, accounting for more than $105 million in revenue. Mark's responsibilities included meeting candidates throughout the United States, performing competitive analysis, and constructing and presenting transition packages. Mark was also responsible for training, compiling competitive data, and driving diversity initiatives for Directors and Managers. As Sales Manager for the Southeast Region, Mark worked with 12 Directors and 1,400 Advisors across 7 states, generating a billion dollars in revenue. Mark successfully coordinated relationships between the Private Client Group and the Private Bank and Institutional Group. Before joining Merrill Lynch, Mark's career began in 1988 as a Financial Advisor with A.G. Edwards. In January of 1991 he joined Prudential Bache, where he saw his revenue production reach Chairman's Level. During the better part of his tenure at Prudential Securities, Mark served as Producing Branch Manager and was recognized in the areas of profitability, superior audits, and in particular, recruiting. Mark is a graduate of Wofford College, where he lettered in Varsity Basketball. Mark is a member of The Investment Management Consultants Association and holds the designation of Certified Investment Analyst from The Wharton School of Business. Mark is also the recipient of the National Leadership Award from The Republican Congressional Committee. Mark and his wife, Catherine, reside in Columbia, SC and have 4 children.

Mike McClain - CEO

Mike McClain joined Hoffman McClain Consulting as a managing partner after a very successful 31½ year career in the financial services field. His role at Hoffman McClain Consulting is to oversee the tactical operation of the firm, as well as working with Mark on strategic direction. Mike began his career with Bache and Company (later Prudential Securities) in 1976 in Atlanta, GA, where he became a very successful Financial Advisor. In 1982 Mike embarked on the leadership portion of his career, leading offices in Charlotte, NC, Atlanta, GA, Dallas, TX, and Pittsburgh, PA. He also served as a Regional Director for two years. Mike is known for his many successes in restructuring problem offices and rebuilding them by recruiting substantial financial advisors and improving training. In 2000, Mike was the recruiting speaker at the National Managers Meeting for Prudential Securities. Mike has served on several advisory committees and boards and was a frequent speaker and senior leader for the Branch Manager Leadership Program at Prudential Securities. Mike has also been an instructor for the SIA at the Wharton School of Business for managers posted in ultra high net worth offices. Mike joined Merrill Lynch in November of 2002 and served as the Director of the Western PA Complex. Once again Mike was charged with the task of rebuilding problem offices within the Complex. Upon successfully accomplishing this restructure, Mike joined the PA Regional Staff to train the market leaders in the PA Region to become effective recruiters and leaders. Mike was responsible for all aspects of recruiting within the Region including meeting with recruits for market leaders and deal positioning. Faced with yet another move and relocation of his family, Mike chose to retire from Merrill Lynch and use his business acumen and extensive recruiting skills at Hoffman McClain Consulting. Mike's recruiting success and business operating skills allows Hoffman McClain Consulting to continue its rapid growth and be a highly sought after search and consulting firm. Mike resides in Charleston, SC with his wife of 27 years, Janet, and their 3 children.
