Dan Reed

Dan Reed has over 22 years of experience in human and social services and has held both direct service and supervisory positions. Dan worked in residential treatment facilities in Illinois, Colorado and Iowa prior to joining the Community Mental Health system of for Central Michigan. There he initially oversaw a program for adjudicated youth before becoming Clinical Supervisor. Dan supervises staff that provides Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Parent Management Training of Oregon, Brief Strategic Family Therapy, Parent Child Interaction Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Recovery and Empowerment Model, Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment, Infant Mental Health, Home Base Therapy and Outpatient Therapy. His years at Community Mental Health have included considerable work with law enforcement, probation, courts, schools, social services and physical health providers. Dan sits on numerous committees and collaborative bodies. Mr. Reed has completed the Motivational Interviewing Train the Trainer - Wyoming Protocol training initiative in the State of Michigan and is also a Member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers. He developed and implemented the most extensive Motivational Interviewing training program for a Community Mental Health entity in the State of Michigan. To date, Dan has trained over 300 agency staff in a three phase Motivational Interviewing training program. Over the past three years, he has also provided Motivational Interviewing: Core Skills training for the State of Michigan, Michigan Works, Disability Network, Law Enforcement, Probation, Court Personnel, Social Workers, Academic Advisors and Physical Health Practitioners.

Daryl Goodman

Daryl Goodman has served in various roles entailing the application of Motivational Interviewing skills in practice both as an executive and in a supervisory capacity. Currently he serves as Director at West Michigan Community Mental Health Systems where he serves as Team Leader for Case Management Services for Adults with Mental Illness, Assertive Community Treatment, Dialectical Behavioral Treatment and PEER Services. In that capacity, he oversees the day to day operations of the case management program, the ACT program, Peer services and directly lead the DBT Consultation Team. This includes the supervision of individual therapists providing services as part of the Case Management Team. Prior to this role he served as Executive Director of a private agency providing community residential services, outpatient therapy and day program services to individuals with a Mental Illness or a Developmental Disability. He has served as Residential Services Director for a Community Mental Health agency. In addition he served as Residential Services Director for the State of Michigan involved with the development of residential placements for adults and children with a Developmental Disability. David L. Myers

David L. Myers, PhD, is a Professor and Chairperson of the Criminal Justice Department at the University of New Haven. He previously was a Professor with the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), where he worked from 1998-2016. He earned his PhD in 1999 from the University of Maryland, Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice, and previously received a Master of Science in Administration of Justice and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Shippensburg University. Dr. Myers has taught more than 35 different courses at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels, specializing in classes on research methods and quantitative analysis, juvenile justice and delinquency, and criminal justice policy, planning, and evaluation. He has published 3 books (including Becoming an Evidence-Based Organization: Demonstrating Leadership and Organizational Growth, Joyfields Institute for Professional Development, 2013) and over 50 journal articles, book chapters, or other scholarly works. His scholarship has appeared in such journals as Criminology and Public Policy, Crime & Delinquency, Youth Violence and Juvenile Justice, and Criminal Justice and Behavior. Dr. Myers is the Editor of Routledge Studies in Juvenile Justice and Delinquency, Editor of EBP Quarterly, and an Editorial Board member of Youth Violence and Juvenile Justice and the Journal of Applied Juvenile Justice Services. In addition, he is Past-President of the Association of Doctoral Programs in Criminology and Criminal Justice, a Subject Matter Expert for the Crime & Justice Research Alliance, and a certified reviewer for Crimesolutions.gov and the OJJDP Model Programs Guide.

John Keene

Chief Keene was appointed Chief Probation Officer in June 2013. Chief Keene brings more than 20 years of law enforcement experience to his role. Prior to his appointment, he served as Deputy Chief Probation Officer in Alameda County. Chief Keene earned his Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Chief Keene is committed to Public Protection, Victim Restoration, and Offender Rehabilitation. He believes that the development, implementation, and sustainability of Evidenced Based Programming is the future of Community Corrections.

June E. Fisher

June E. Fisher, MSW, LSW has over 20 years of experience providing training and education services to professionals, children, youth, families and their communities. Ms. Fisher provides dynamic interactive live and web-based workshops for families, agencies and communities. Her knowledge and skills include working with human and social services teams and systems in the areas of intellectual disabilities, child welfare, trauma, mental health, and drug and alcohol. Ms. Fisher is nationally recognized for her skills as a Certified Trainer and Curriculum Writer. In 2009 she was named "Trainer of the Year" by the Pennsylvania Child Welfare Training Program. She is also a Certified Federal and Child and Family Service Review (CFSR) Evaluator experienced with the mandated Federal outcomes and the program improvement plan (PIP) process. She has been a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) in Cumberland County Pennsylvania since 2009. Ms. Fisher works with the Pennsylvania Child Welfare Resource Center at the University of Pittsburgh and also serves as associate faculty member at Joyfields Institute for Professional Development. Ms. Fisher earned her Bachelors of Social Work degree from Temple University and her Masters in Social Work at Widener University.

Najwa Khalaf

Najwa Khalaf has extensive experience in the workforce development field, most recently applying her skills to build programs for families in need within the healthcare system. She has served as Programs Manager for a local Workforce Center in the Denver Metro area, overseeing all assistance programs, including Colorado Works, Child Support Enforcement, SNAP-E&T, Pre-Release, and the Department of Corrections. Currently, Najwa is a Program Manager with a large hospital system supporting patients in seven states. With over 25 years of experience in human services, Najwa has worked with various populations, including high-risk youth, welfare recipients, and individuals needing drug and alcohol counseling. She has provided training and education services to professionals, welfare recipients, youth, families, and communities, focusing on job creation, program development, welfare-to-work, public health programs, offender services, and addressing Social Determinants of Health for families. Najwa began her career in 1997 with the Colorado Works program, case managing two-parent and single-parent families. She is a certified CPEx (Colorado Performance Excellence) examiner in the Malcolm Baldrige criteria and is also Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) certified. Najwa holds a degree in Human Services with an emphasis on High-risk Youth. As an Associate Faculty member at Joyfields Institute, she leads the curriculum and staff development activities for the firm's workforce and career services practice.

Paul Elam

Paul Elam, Ph.D., president of PPA, is a skilled team builder, project manager, and researcher with expertise in corrections, child welfare, and justice issues. He is a collaborative leader who brings an abiding commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity to his public policy work. Dr. Elam holds a doctorate in family and child ecology with minors in criminology, community services, and measurement and methods; master's degree in criminal justice and urban studies; and bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Michigan State University. Dr. Elam has been a lead consultant on numerous statewide projects, including the Michigan Coalition for Race Equity in Child Welfare and Juvenile Justice and the Michigan Child Welfare Improvement Task Force. He played a key role in the development and implementation of the Michigan Prisoner ReEntry Initiative and continues to work on reentry issues across the U.S.

Susan Clement

Susan Clement is a counseling professional with designations of Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). She is President of Michigan Counseling & Clinical Supervision specializing in counselor supervision and clinical training and development. She also serves as the Law Enforcement Liaison for Lapeer County Community Mental Health Agency. Ms. Clement is a highly regarded instructor in the field of Counseling, Cognitive Behavioral Training and Motivational Interviewing. She has taught Techniques of Counseling at Oakland University. She specializes in focus on the importance of the therapeutic relationship.
