Colleen Nichols

Colleen joined Livermore Architecture and Engineering, Inc. in 2003. As Structural Engineer/Project Manager for the company, she develops engineering calculations and drawings for industrial and commercial projects. In addition, she develops company standards, provides quality control for engineering services and acts as project manager for a variety of projects. Colleen's energy and enthusiasm helps to create a positive working environment in our office. Colleen is adept at managing all tasks of a project, from schematic design through construction administration. She is a process driven individual specializing in production of construction documents within confined schedules. Colleen enjoys in engineering large commercial and industrial structures using steel frame or concrete. Colleen loves exploring new places, whether that's adding a new country to her list or moving to New Zealand for two years, she's always willing to try somewhere new. She has a fondness for cats and dogs and is a member of the Oregon Humane Society PAWS program. On her days off she enjoys visiting new vegetarian restaurants and a good glass of whiskey.

Elaine Edgar

Elaine is our dedicated office manager and is responsible for maintaining the company's financial and contractual records. In addition, she also assists with marketing, licensure renewal and a steady stream of special projects that seem to always be cropping up. In her free time, Elaine enjoys camping, skiing, and traveling with her husband and three kids. She loves exploring Portland, especially through beer tastings; however she dreams of vacationing in Costa Rica to see the country's sloths and monkeys.

Gary Livermore - President

Gary Livermore possesses the rare distinction of being dually-licensed as both an architect and a structural engineer. Since 2000, Gary has established Livermore Architecture & Engineering as a collaborative group of trusted designers and engineers of commercial and industrial environments. Gary has over 30 years of design and engineering experience and possesses a deep knowledge of all aspects of building construction. Gary has particular expertise in building and fire code requirements, including the complexities of designing Hazardous (H) Occupancies. As President of LAE, Gary directs company staffing, scheduling, financial management and quality control. He also acts as project manager on certain projects and maintains an active role in all projects and activities in the office. Gary's depth of knowledge and managerial excellence sets the standard for all Livermore personnel.

Geoff Grummon-Beale

Geoff joined Livermore Architecture & Engineering, Inc. in 2011 after working for several architecture firms on commercial and institutional projects. With over 23 years of work experience, Geoff has a thorough understanding of the commercial and industrial design process as well as excellent construction, building code, and accessibility standard knowledge. Geoff excels at architectural programming, zoning and code review, schematic design, consultant coordination, and construction administration. As Principal Architect at LAE, Geoff directs the architectural staff and also serves as project manager on some projects. Geoff is involved in the initial preliminary design of most projects in the office and offers technical design assistance to project managers as needed. Geoff believes in mentorship and encourages the development of the careers of LAE's staff. Geoff spends most of his time outdoors, mountain and road biking across the Pacific Northwest with his wife, Juliette. During the winter, he takes to the mountains to snowboard and cross country ski. He enjoys practicing his filmmaking skills when he travels and, after a trip to Hawaii, has started to learn the ukelele.

Justin Wells

Justin joined Livermore after working on industrial, commercial and mixed use projects in the Pacific Northwest. He graduated with his Master's degree in Architecture from Portland State University with an emphasis in sustainability, and has been involved in promoting design-thinking and active transportation. Justin has experience as an architectural designer, responsible for project documentation and coordination on multiple fast-paced developer lead projects. This work was primarily focused on commercial retail, urban mixed use and industrial projects that included tenant improvements, remodels, adaptive reuse, and ground up new builds. He is passionate about exploring new environmentally sustainable materials technology and systems integration to promote sustainability and innovative design. Having grown up in rural Oregon, Justin knows a thing or two about getting lost in the woods and mountains of Oregon, and has spent many a day skiing Mt. Hood or hiking through the mountains. He and his wife are avid backpackers, having traveled throughout Europe and Japan, as well as parts of the United States and Canada in pursuit of nature and urban architecture. While in Portland, if you don't find him at a beer garden or the Japanese Garden, you will probably find him tinkering on one of his many collected bicycles or going on rides along the Willamette River with his wife and young son.

Katey Gilbert

Katey joined Livermore Architecture and Engineering in 2018 after moving to Portland from Northern California. Katey manages the architectural design of projects from conception through construction. Katey excels at meeting tight schedules while producing thoughtful and detailed work, coordinating with consultants and contractors, and maintaining excellent service to clients. She brings 3D visualization and rendering skills as well as a spirited work ethic. She tries to bring the same compassionate and open minded approach that she has cultivated in her non-profit work to all of her projects. Having grown-up in Los Angeles, Katey is happiest when in, on, or by any ocean. She spends most of her weekends hiking around Oregon with her husband, sharpening her beginner-level sewing skills, or baking banana bread.

Mira Vorobets

Job Titles:
  • Structural Designer
Mira joined Livermore Architecture and Engineering, Inc. in July of 2016. She previously worked for a structural steel design-build company where she developed hands-on experience assisting the project manager and field superintendent as project engineer. Currently Mira is working toward obtaining her professional engineer license while assisting the principal engineers with structural construction drawings and calculations. Mira spends her days digging in her garden and taking on numerous home improvement projects. She enjoys playing volleyball and, when the weather permits, skiing or hiking around Oregon. When traveling or at home in Portland, she's always on the search for new and interesting breweries.

Nancy Barakat Adams

Nancy joined Livermore Architecture & Engineering in late Summer of 2022. She focuses on the production of design documents and project support including schematic design, code reviews, construction documents, consultant coordination, jurisdiction submittals, and construction administration tasks. She chose architecture as an outlet to apply her professional diversified work experience and works towards actively benefiting the community. Nancy is currently working towards her architectural license and is pursuing LEED accreditation. When off the clock, Nancy is working on a new body of artwork for local exhibitions, expanding her research on sustainability in the built environment, or simply enjoying a cozy stay-at-home playing video games.

Philip Pittsenbarger

Job Titles:
  • Senior Project Manager
Philip has worked on a variety of commercial and industrial projects including large operations and maintenance facilities, mixed use commercial and multi-family housing projects. He has worked with public agencies such as the Oregon Department of Forestry, Washington State Parks, U.S. Department of Forestry and the U.S National Parks Service. He enjoys all aspects of a project from the conceptual design and master planning to working out the construction details and consultant coordination. Philip's expertise is in technical design, building code compliance and accessibility and sustainable building techniques. Philip enjoys spending time fly fishing in the beautiful Pacific northwest rivers and lakes, painting watercolors, and cycling in the hills around Portland. He spends time in the summer backpacking, camping and traveling with his wife and three sons.
