The "Salisbury Beach" is a Pullman sleeper with six roomettes, four bedrooms, and six sections. Delivered in December, 1954, the car features stainless steel sides and fluting, outside swing hanger trucks (Amtrak approved), and an eight-ton Safety/Carrier air conditioning system... The car was originally built for the Boston and Maine Railroad for service between Concord, New Hampshire and New York City on the "State of Maine Express". The car subsequently was assigned to first class trains throughout the United States until it was sold to the Canadian National Railway in 1966. It was retired in 1982 and brought to Southern California in February of 1990. It has traveled to Sacramento and Salt Lake City and has been used in four major movies.
