Springfield Engineering Company was founded in 1952 by, Ben F. Fielder. In the beginning, the company engineered and installed heating systems as well as refrigeration systems for mechanical cooling. Around a decade after the company started, it added a Sheet Metal fabrication shop and became a Sheet Metal contractor. SECO continued expansion of the organization in the 1980s when a plumbing division was started, and AutoCAD and digital takeoff were first utilized by the company.
