Cheryl Smith

Cheryl is a key member of the Tyree Industries management team with over 20 years employment with the company in various financial roles. She holds an Advanced Commerce Certificate, a Bachelor of Business in Accounting and undertakes continuing professional development training with CPA Australia. In addition to her extensive Tyree experience Cheryl has previously worked with Thiess as a Senior Accountant and Office Manager.

David McNeil - Chairman

David McNeill - Chairman

David McNeil is the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Tyree Group. He is a qualified engineer and industrialist who has had a long association with the Tyree Group spanning over 25 years. In addition to his involvement with Tyree, David is also Chairman of transformer machinery manufacturer AEM Cores and Tekelek Australia. David has extensive manufacturing and electricity distribution network experience having previously been the Chairman of Electronet - South Australia, Chairman of SAGE Group Holdings Limited and having worked with a number of global manufacturers including ABB. David has been a member of Australian Industry Group for over 25 years and is current a member of their National Executive. In addition David remains closely involved with the Industry Leaders Fund of South Australia a charitable foundation focused on developing future industry leaders.

David Ward

David joined Tyree in 2005 and has over thirty years' experience in senior accounting and company secretarial roles. Due to a passion for manufacturing, David's career has been focused on this sector with roles in businesses as large as British Aerospace as well as smaller private businesses or subsidiaries of listed groups in both Australia and the UK. Based in Mittagong, David is a Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and Chartered Secretaries Australia and has also undertaken extensive training in the methodology of world class manufacturing as encompassed in the Toyota Production System.

George Foster

Job Titles:

George joined Tyree Industries in 1998 and has over 20 years of transformer engineering and production management experience. Fulfilling roles such as Process Engineering Manager, Product Development and Standards Manager, Engineering Manager and Quality Manager, George has built up a broad portfolio of hands on transformer manufacturing and design experience and has been instrumental in the development and introduction of new products and processes at Tyree. George holds a Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Jody Gatt

Jody works closely with our Field Service and Contracts Team co-ordinating all of the onsite service administration and logistical requirements. Jody is an experienced and self-motivated administrator and enjoys working in a fast paced environment. Jody is the central point of contact for the Fields Service suppliers, contractors and customers should they require any assistance. She works directly with the General Manager of Field Service and Customer Service Manager to provide a high level of support throughout the process ensuring project timelines are maintained and customers are receiving the highest level of customer service daily.

Keian Barnard - CEO, Managing Director

Keian joined Tyree Industries as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer in September 2013 and has over 25 years senior executive experience in manufacturing and service businesses with operations in Australia and other countries including China, South Africa and the UK. He was previously the chief executive of O'Donnell Griffin, General Manager at Ampcontrol and prior to this held various management roles with Metal Manufactures. He holds a Masters Degree in Accounting, a Diploma of Electrical Engineering and a Masters of Business. Keian is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers Australia and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Krishnan Nair

Krishnan has over 10 years of experience in Power Distribution and Transformer manufacturing industries in India, New Zealand and Australia. He holds Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and master's in electrical engineering. Krishnan has extensive knowledge in Transformer testing, service repairs & refurbishments, estimation, technical sales as well as workshop management, client account administration and maintaining strategic customer relationships. He thrives on technical challenges and complex engineering projects with steady focus on quality and safety. He also has a track record of commitment to completion with exceptional outcomes for the customers.

Michael Stack

Michael joined Tyree Industries in 2007 and is an integral member of the leadership team and has been instrumental in the introduction of new product lines and technologies. Michael has over twenty years experience in the transformer industry, primarily focused on engineering and product development for the Australasian and North American markets. Michael's previous roles include Product Manager and Principal Engineer for Espey Manufacturing and Electronics Corp in the USA, prior to this he was the Electrical Engineering Manager for A.W Tyree Transformers. Michael has an Honours Class Degree in Electrical Engineering, an MBA in International Business and is a Chartered Professional Engineer by the Institute of Engineers Australia.

Neil Wech

Job Titles:
  • New Zealand Sales Manager
Neil is a highly experienced in sales, engineering, installation and support of transformers and electrical products to the utilities, industrial clients and power generators the New Zealand market. With over 50 years of industry knowledge gained in his previous roles, Neil has completed transformer projects for ratings up to 220kV and 250 MVA in New Zealand. Neil joins the Tyree team after recently leaving the position of New Zealand manager for Pauwels Trafo Asia - PT CG Power which he held for 12 years and preceding this role, Neil was the manager of Canterbury Engineering a division of Schneider Electric.

Robyn Fennell

Robyn Fennell is Sir William Tyree's daughter and her membership of the board continues the representation of the Tyree family within the Tyree Group of Companies and as Chair of the Sir William Tyree Foundation co-ordinates the ongoing philanthropic works of the Foundation whose major donor is the Tyree Group of Companies. Robyn has been involved with the Tyree businesses in various roles for over 30 years and has a passion for the continuation of the Tyree name in Australian manufacturing with continued investment in engineering training.

Scott Steele

With 20 years experience with Global Manufacturers such as ABB, Schneider, ALSTOM, CG Power with various roles from selling MV/HV Switchgear and protection products, Distribution and Power Transformers up to 550KV, 500MVA and turn-key substations. Experienced with running a service and installation company looking after products from cradle to grave.
