James Roney

James Roney joined Dial a Nerd in 2007 after spending much of his career servicing AngloGold Ashanti in West Africa and Dimension Data in Johannesburg. He started as a dial-up support specialist for Internet Solutions and worked his way up through every position, finally becoming a network administrator for Anglogold's Morilla, Sadiola and Yatela gold mines. After returning back to South Africa, James joined Dial a Nerd specifically looking for fresh challenges. He started as a Junior technician in our Soho division, moving to our business division within his first two months. He finally gained the position of Technical Manager after four short years. James assumed the role of Branch Manager in September 2014 and has begun the process of consolidating our Business, Soho and Cabling divisions. This move made sense not only from a natural evolutionary point of view, but because James eats, breathes and sleeps team work. Hobbies and interests include DIY, technology, drones and anything radio controlled.

Petrie van Zyl

Job Titles:
  • Managing Executive
Petrie started at Dial a Nerd in 2007 as a sales consultant and within a couple of years stepped into management as the Branch Manager of the Cape Town Branch 2010 where he oversaw the consolidation of Cape Town branches. In the early years he enjoyed combining his passion for technology and customer service and learned that earning customer loyalty over the long term carries much more value than short term gains. He later stepped into a Regional manager role where he designed and launched the Dial a Nerd National Support Network, delivering IT support services under the Dial a Nerd brand across the country. Currently, Petrie is the Managing Executive at Dial a Nerd.
