GLOBAL SURGERY

The Center for Health Equity in Surgery and Anesthesia (CHESA) is based at the UCSF Institute for Global Health Sciences and is dedicated to increasing access to safe surgery and perioperative care worldwide. In 2020, multiple initiatives and stakeholders, including the UCSF Anesthesia Division of Global Health Equity and the UCSF Center for Global Surgical Studies, came together to form CHESA... Our research includes implementation sciences, translational, and basic science work with priorities driven by our partners and the communities we serve... Our education programs train emerging leaders in health equity and support perioperative workforce training capacity in resource-denied settings.
