David M. Levine

  • Founding Member of the Firm, Mr. Levine
A founding member of the firm, Mr. Levine heads the Property Management Section. Mr. Levine concentrates his practice in the representation of property management clients, specializing in apartment law and manufactured housing. He counsels clients in all aspects of property management, including the negotiation of broadband and communication service agreements. Mr. Levine graduated from Michigan State University with a B.A. in Social Science in 1969. He was a member of Zeta Beta Tau fraternity. He earned a J.D. from South Texas College of Law in 1972, where he was Articles Editor for the Law Review and a member of Phi Alpha Delta. A member of the State Bar of Michigan and the Oakland County Bar Association, Mr. Levine is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. He is also a member of the Michigan Manufactured Housing Association. Mr. Levine assisted in the drafting of Michigan's Just Cause for Eviction statute for manufactured home communities, and served on the committee which drafted Florida's Mobile Home Act. Mr. Levine has also served as President of Temple Shir Shalom in West Bloomfield.

Jarrett E. Levine

Jarrett Levine joined the firm in 2008 after earning his Juris Doctorate from Michigan State University College of Law. His practice area encompasses a broad range of real estate related matters including landlord-tenant, manufactured housing, residential and commercial property management, land contract forfeitures, foreclosures, negotiating and drafting commercial leases as well as reviewing and drafting residential leases. Jarrett also has experience handling probate matters, estate planning, including wills and trusts, along with claim and delivery actions, asset-purchase transactions, business formation consultation, debt collection compliance, and title curative and defense litigation for manufactured homes. Since 2019, Jarrett has been on the Board of Directors for the Michigan Manufactured Housing Association. In addition, from April 2021 until 2023, he was honored to serve on a Workgroup for Summary Proceedings through the Michigan Supreme Court Justice for All Commission where he advocated for the rights of owners and management companies during the eviction process. From 2012 until 2023, Jarrett was a member of the Board of Directors for the Charlie Sanders Foundation Have a Heart - Save a Life. This Foundation raised funds and awareness to address and educate the public on sudden cardiac arrest in student athletes by providing equipment such as AEDs to Detroit Public Schools and making cardiac examinations more available at a significantly discounted rate for high school athletes with limited means prior to engaging in competition. Since joining the firm in 2008, Jarrett has been fortunate to be mentored by many different professionals with a broad wealth of knowledge in their respective practice areas. In January 2023, Jarrett became the managing partner at Swistak Levine and intends to continue to represent clients with professionalism and zealous advocacy using the resources of Swistak Levine and knowledge gained over the years.

John P. Kapitan

John is a member of the Real Estate and Property Management sections of the firm. He concentrates his practice in commercial and real estate disputes, litigation, including the defense of title insurance claims, landlord-tenant, bankruptcy, and the defense of fair housing and discrimination claims. Prior to joining Swistak Levine, P.C., John was a staff attorney for a Chapter 13 Trustee and a partner at one of Michigan's largest firms specializing in all facets of real estate finance legal work, including default servicing, bankruptcy, eviction, and litigation. John has represented mortgage servicers, banks, credit unions, investor groups, commercial and multi-family property owners, and individual entrepreneurs. Michael Burns

Michael Burns joined Swistak Levine P.C. in 2024. Since joining the firm, Michael has focused his practice on real estate issues, specifically those of Claim and Delivery for secured transaction collateral and abandoned titles for manufactured home communities. Michael graduated from Xavier University in 2020 with a B.A. in History, and double minors in Political Science and Italian Studies. While at Xavier Michael received the W. Eugene Shiels S.J. award for Leadership and Excellence in the classroom. He received his J.D. from Wayne State Law School in the Spring of 2024. Prior to joining the firm, Michael clerked for a Wayne County Circuit Court Judge for several years. Before attending law school, he was a member of the Alumni Volunteer Corps at University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy.
