The company, BIOMED NV, was founded in 1984 by Rik and Juanita Hellemans. Inspired by Subhuti Dharmananda (ITM) and the late Dr. Hong-Yen Hsu (Sun Ten) BIOMED was the first company in Europe that put Chinese herbal formulas in the form of prepared products on the market. After Belgium and the Netherlands the market expanded soon to other European countries. In 1998 activities were transferred to a larger location in Putte in the Netherlands where the distribution is handled by BIOMED BV.
