Need help with a divorce, child custody, family law, or civil litigation? Civil Law Lawyer Matt Zimmerman can provide the attention and detail you need. Matt Zimmerman's passion for law has given rise to a family and civil law practice that addresses virtually every area affecting individuals and small businesses. With exceptional legal insight and expertise, Matt strives to touch lives positively and make a difference in people's legal affairs. Specializing in the fabric of family relationships, Matt deftly weaves legal precision in the realms of divorce, custodial consensus, and familial harmony. His practice extends his expertise to the battlegrounds of probate and estate planning. An awardee of the Top 40 Under 40 in Family Law by the American Academy of Attorneys and a Top 40 Under 40 Trial Lawyer in Criminal Defense, Matt's advocacy is often the turning point for our clients. His dual jurisprudence and business administration degrees from Texas Tech endow him with a unique duality - that of a legal strategist and an adept negotiator for life's most private battles. Matt Zimmerman was born and raised in Round Rock, Texas - (at that time a small town) north of Austin, Texas, and the city has been recognized annually for nearly 30 years as one of the most diverse and fastest-growing cities in the United States. After high school, Matt was excited to pursue college baseball in Abilene at Abilene Christian University in 2003. He soon realized the greater potential in the College of Business Administration. Matt graduated with a double major in Finance and Accounting, and a minor in Bible, Missions, and Ministry from ACU in 2007. However, when his college friends were preparing to become accountants, Matt left higher education to travel across the United States and Central America. For three years after graduation, Matt lived in places like Antigua, Guatemala where he learned to speak Spanish. From there he moved on to Denver, Colorado, where he found out firsthand what it was like to work hard at a low-wage job, struggle to make rent, and miss Texas. In 2009 he returned to Round Rock working as an interim youth minister at his home church and decided to enter law school. In the fall of 2010, he entered the Texas Tech University School of Law. Matt graduated in December 2013 with another joint degree: a Juris Doctorate, and a Masters in Business Administration. His law school electives focused on trial law, real estate, oil and gas, and other civil litigation subjects. After graduation, Matt spent time as a landman in Midland, Texas focused on real estate title research. After passing the Texas bar exam in 2014 Matt immediately jumped into the courtroom. In the years since being licensed, Matt has served as lead counsel and litigated hundreds of cases on subject matters that run the civil litigation gamut. He has also been lead counsel or co-counsel in dozens of jury trials. Matt Zimmerman has attained a level of expertise and success in multiple practice areas that few lawyers can match. In 2018 Matt was nationally recognized as a Top 40 Under 40 for Family Law by the American Academy of Attorneys. Two years later in 2020, Matt was again recognized as a Top 40 Under 40, this time by the National Association of Trial Lawyers. Matt has qualified for placement on the Criminal Justice Act Panel of Attorneys. His extensive civil litigation experience has also qualified him to test for board certification in the areas of Family Law and Consumer Law. He has been admitted to the Federal Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and is licensed by the Supreme Court of Texas and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. Matt's practice areas focuses primarily on Family Law, Probate, Guardianship, Civil Law, Personal Injury, and Contract Litigation. MEMBERSHIPS Matt is also active in various community outreach programs and is among the most active family law lawyers in Abilene TX.
