Marina is an associate attorney in the firm's estate and wealth preservation department. Her practice is focused on guiding clients in passing wealth between generations in the most tax efficient manner, taking into account clients' concerns and wishes.
Marina Theodoris joined Bouklas & Associates in 2022 as an associate of the firm's Estate Planning group. She joins the firm with extensive experience representing real estate owners and developers in commercial and residential real estate transactions and complex litigation.
At Bouklas & Associates, Marina serves as a strategic advisor to individuals, families, and business owners regarding the full range of estate planning tools designed to pass wealth between generations as smoothly and effectively as possible. Her work includes the structuring of wealth preservation strategies and the preparation of estate planning documents such as wills, revocable trusts, irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney and statutory gift riders, and health care proxies. She also helps guide clients through the financial and emotional challenges associated with planning for long term care needs, whether at home or at a nursing home facility, by implementing asset-restructuring strategies that facilitate clients' eligibility for Medicaid and related government programs and benefits.
Marina's thorough understanding of the complex intersection of estate planning and business law, especially her background in real estate law, allows her to also provide her clients with the necessary counsel, advice, and pragmatic solutions to help her clients' businesses thrive for future generations. Accordingly, her work also encompasses assisting clients with the formation of corporations, limited liability companies and other business entities, and the orderly transfer of business interests. Marina was recognized among the top 2.5 percent of attorneys in New York as a Super Lawyer New York Metro Rising Star honoree for 2021 and 2022. She has also lectured for the Rent Stabilization Association regarding the effects of recent legislation on the real estate industry.
Marina is a member of the New York State Bar Association and its Trusts and Estates Law Section and the Hellenic Lawyers Association. She is also an active member of a number of community initiatives including the Homeless Ministry of the Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity.
Marina is fluent in Greek.
Philip V. Bouklas is Managing Partner of the firm. Prior to the launch of his firm, Philip was a partner at Agins, Siegel, Reiner & Bouklas, LLP where he developed and chaired that firm's Wills, Trusts and Estates department since 1999.
Philip's practice also includes estate administration, where he represents individual legatees, charities, executors, administrators, and trustees. He is frequently called upon to appear in Surrogate's Court to participate in contested probate, administration and accounting proceedings. He is also appointed by the Court as Guardian ad Litem in various estate-related court proceedings.
Philip received his Juris Doctor Degree from Hofstra University School of Law in May 1995, and his Bachelor Degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in December 1991. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1996 and is admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court as well as the United States District Courts for the Southern District of New York, the Eastern District of New York and the District of New Jersey.
Philip is a Registered Trusts and Estates Practitioner (TEP) with the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, an international professional body of experienced and senior practitioners in the field of trusts and estates. He is also an active member of the New York State Bar Association being a former committee member of the New York State Bar Association's Committee on Issues Affecting Persons with Disabilities, and a member of the Association's Trusts and Estates Law Section, Corporate Counsel Section and International Law Section.
Sophia joined the firm as a partner in 2011 after a decade of practicing law as a trial attorney. Sophia chairs the probate and estate and trust administration department of the firm.
Victoria is an associate attorney in the firm's estate and trust administration department. Her practice is focused on the administration of estates and trusts, including probate and other court related proceedings.
