In the 1999 Policy Address, the Chief Executive has highlighted the need for business sector to explore actively more opportunities in the environmental market and build up an environmental industry to serve the Asia Pacific region. In order to align and provide a better communication and collaboration channel among the local companies and organisations engaged in the environment-related business, the "Hong Kong Environmental Industry Association" was formed in early 2000 to accomplish this long-term vision... to formulate short and long term strategies and action plans to expand Hong Kong's business into environment-related industry;... to promote business and technical co-operation with potential partners in Hong Kong, mainland China and overseas;
