Rebecca Nance rejoined the Oregon Employment Department's (OED) legislative team in mid-June 2020 after an eight-year absence from public service. Ms. Nance has extensive experience in state government having worked in Oregon and Alaska for both legislators and state agencies. Unemployment Insurance policy is of particular interest to Ms. Nance. For a decade, she served as either vice-chair or chair of the National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA) Unemployment Insurance Interstate Benefits Committee. She has also served as NASWA Secretary and board member. A graduate of Oregon State University, Ms. Nance has enjoyed a diverse and interesting career working not only in state government, but as a: television weather reporter; small business marketer for a video production company; office manager for a union hiring hall; and, client service manager in veterinary medicine. In her spare time, Ms. Nance: serves on the board of Greyhound Pet Adoption Northwest, is the chair of the medical committee, and is on the dog haul team; loves to bake - pie is her specialty; and, is a member of two Masonic organizations. She lives in Salem with her husband, Al, bull terrier/whippet, Dano, and greyhound, Dame Judi Dench.

Ryan Chegwin

Ryan Chegwin currently works as an Unemployment Insurance Specialist for the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, for whom he has been employed for thirteen years. In his current role his primary functions are as a team leader, trainer, adjudicator, and departmental liaison to southern Minnesota's legal community. Ryan has written numerous departmental processes, as well as completed certifications in Training, Curricula Design, and LEAN methodology. Ryan began with the agency not long after finishing his bachelor's degree at Goddard College in Vermont, and graduate work at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. Ryan has been an IAWP member for four years and is currently involved in the refoundation of the Minnesota chapter. Ryan is also a member of the National Public Pension Coalition, as well as inter-agency statewide Employee Resource Groups focusing on inclusivity. Prior to his involvement with IAWP Ryan served in a number of elected roles for the Minnesota Association of Professional Employees (MAPE), including chapter President. As President he assisted in the founding of the statewide Equity Diversity subgroup, was involved in the implementation of the anti-bullying toolkit, served as a committeeman for the Membership Committee, and as an active member of the MAPE Parliamentary Procedure study group. Ryan won several awards from MAPE for highest quarterly recruitment figures. Outside of work Ryan has spent time as a volunteer with Sharing & Caring Hands and Teen Challenge. In his personal life Ryan has a cat and enjoys sports, mechanical watches, books as well as spending time with friends and family.
