Charles Holton

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Mr. Holton is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 30 years of experience. He received his Masters in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He worked at the Granville County Mental Health Center and at Kaiser Permanente before joining HRC. He is the Past President of the North Carolina Society of Clinical Hypnosis. He has taught psychotherapy to psychiatry residents at Duke and to social work graduate students at UNC-CH, and has supervised both graduate students from East Carolina University and psychotherapists in private practice. Personal Statement The goals of my practice are to create a safe environment in which clients can comfortably address difficult issues without fear of judgment, and develop strategies that can be used between sessions to make meaningful changes resulting in less suffering and more satisfaction with their lives. I blend mindfulness and skill-based approaches in my work. I see adults, children, couples and families.

Dr. Donna L. Skillman

Dr. Donna L. Skillman is a NC Licensed Psychologist and Nationally Certified School Psychologist with over 30 years experience specializing in the assessment and treatment of ADHD and related disorders for individuals of all ages. She received her doctoral degree from the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology at Rutgers University in New Jersey in 1986. She worked in schools and private agencies in New Jersey before she was licensed in North Carolina in 1991. Dr. Skillman has received 46 hours of training in DBT (Dialectal Behavior Therapy) and incorporates DBT principles in her therapeutic approach.

Dr. Joanna Pearson

  • General Adult Psychiatrist
Dr. Joanna Pearson is a general adult psychiatrist who completed her medical education at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and remained at Johns Hopkins to complete her psychiatry residency training. Originally from North Carolina, she also has a background in writing and the arts. While at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Pearson trained extensively in a number of specialized inpatient, outpatient, and consultation clinics, including the Women's Mood Disorder Center and the Sexual Behaviors Consultation Unit, and served as a psychiatric consultant to specialists in all areas of medicine. Her special interests include mood disorders, anxiety disorders, depression, artistic and creative development, young adult issues, college student mental health and development, and women's mental health--including premenstrual and peripartum mood disorders. She is dedicated to working individually with patients to identify the best way to evaluate and treat a broad range of general psychiatric disorders.

Imad Khan

Job Titles:
  • Adult Psychiatrist
Dr. Khan is an adult psychiatrist who completed medical school at the Philadelphia Collegeof Osteopathic Medicine - GA Campus. He completed his internship at Ascension St. John Macomb-Oakland and completed his general psychiatry residency at University of Wisconsin in Madison. He is experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of mood disorders, anxiety disorders and ADHD. Dr. Khan's treatment approach is to provide evidence-based treatment and to work collaboratively with therapists and other medical providers. He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association.

Richard Hicks

Job Titles:
  • Executive Director
Dr. Hicks is the Executive Director of HRC, the Director of Employee Assistance Programs at HRC, and a North Carolina Licensed Psychologist. He received his undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University. He obtained his Masters and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. He has provided psychological services to adults, adolescents, and children in a variety of outpatient and inpatient settings since 1998.
