Fatima Gonzalez became a part of the Jefferson Dental family more than eight years go. Since then she's worked her way up the ladder managing two different clinic locations in her tenure. For the last four years she's called Pleasant Grove home and worked to make sure patients know they're part of the family too! The clinic is unique in that several members of the staff share Fatima's longevity. The three most senior employees have been working with patients for the last five years, and the clinic coordinator has been with JDC for more than 13 years! Patients love seeing familiar, reassuring faces when they come in for a procedure or routine cleaning…and the feeling is mutual! Staff know many of our patients on a first name basis, and say when they come in once or twice a year, it's like seeing an old friend. The 12-person staff make it their number one goal to build patient trust by creating bonds between staff and patients. The team also works to make each patient feels like they are receiving personalized service. Everyone is treated in a courteous manner, no matter the circumstance. Whether your 8 or 80, the staff can customize the experience to make you as comfortable and safe as possible. Maria Mendez has been an essential part of our Jefferson Dental family since 2008. For the last three years, she's managed a full-time staff of 12 at our Grand Prairie location. Maria and her staff prioritize the patient experience to ensure each visit is as pleasant and stress-free as possible. Staff at Grand Prairie is courteous and calm, and carefully review procedure details in advance to make sure that patients have a good understanding of the process. Maria says their ability to communicate clearly and fully is part of the reason the clinic has so much success. The staff continuously checks in on patients' status, remaining in constant communication and proactively responding to patients' needs. The team knows that it is very important to ensure that patients feel comfortable and secure with the dental treatments they receive. From front to back, staff is friendly and the doctors go above to make sure that patients feel assured with the treatment. Upon request Maria even personally escorts parents to check in with their kids throughout pediatric treatments. When it comes to recovery, staff help patients through a step by step process, while dental director Dr. Kahkhar is very caring and patient through each part of the treatment process. The clinic philosophy holds that anyone should be able to seek dental care, which is why they take all walk-ins in cases of dental emergencies. Maria takes pride in the very high patient satisfaction ratings they receive. Most are very pleased with their procedure from beginning to end, walking out with huge happy smiles once they finish their treatments. She recalls one particular patient whose nerves had prevented her from visiting a dentist in almost 30 years. Not surprisingly, by the time she came to JDC she needed massive dental work. Concerned and too embarrassed to smile or expose her teeth for an xray, Dr. Kahkhar was eventually able to reconstruct her teeth using a combination of crowns, bridges and partial bridges. The moment she saw her final smile was a hugely life changing moment for this woman to have the chance to smile freely again, a sensation she had not had in so many years. The procedures have since completely turned things around for her, and she is exceptionally satisfied with her new smile.
