Dr. David Davtyan s experience treating difficult cancers is one of the reasons he s been such a successful weight loss surgeon. Because cancer can always come back, he is accustomed to treating his patients with careful, thoughtful and long-term follow-up care something he continues to offer to his bariatric patients to this very day. Dr. David Davtyan achieved his medical degree from the esteemed UCLA School of Medicine, where he was trained to treat extremely difficult and metastatic cancer cases. For over ten years, he devoted his career to helping patients beat cancer until he discovered bariatric surgery. The success he observed from the LAP-BAND procedure prompted him to focus his practice entirely on performing weight loss procedures to transform his patients lives. He went on to study bariatric surgery in Belgium, where the LAP-BAND was first introduced, and became one of the first surgeons in the United States to offer the procedure once it achieved FDA approval in April of 2001.
Dr. David Davtyan is one of the most experienced LapBand surgeons in the United States. Dr. Davtyan performed the first LapBand procedure in Los Angeles after FDA approval. Dr. Davtyan performed the first LapBand procedure in California in an outpatient ambulatory surgery setting. Dr. Davtyan has performed thousands of LapBand procedures with outstanding results. Dr. Davtyan pioneered in educating the physician community about the LapBand as early as 2003 by publishing articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and in general surgery news as recently as June 2017.
Board certified in both Bariatric Medicine and Surgery, Dr. David Davtyan is one of the most respected bariatric surgeons in the US.
