Maxson Designs is owned and operated by Susan Maxson. It is located in the very small mountain community of Allenspark, Colorado, just 15 miles south of Estes Park, Colorado. Susan has been designing and creating unique pieces of furniture, kitchen cabinets, and smaller items in her shop at 235 Main Street in Allenspark for 37 years... Since her college days at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, where she graduated with her BS in Applied Art/Craft Design, she has learned to use the natural qualities of the wood to create beautiful and functional pieces of art. Handcrafted furnishings are created using professional joinery and expert construction techniques along with modern technology. Most of her work is built from woods such as walnut, cherry, mahogany, maple, oak, and hickory as well as padauk, purpleheart, and other exotic woods which are used as inlays and decorative art forms.
