CORI PRICE

Cori has been in the insurance industry since 2008. She was welcomed into the Michigan Fire Claims family in 2014. She is able to provide a level of knowledge that ensures ample productivity in the claim process. Cori has achieved a certification in asbestos and lead awareness. She has also obtained a certification is bloodborne pathogens. Cori has retained the position of Contents Manager as a result of gaining experience and skill as an inventory specialist. As the Contents Manager, Cori oversees this division at our firm. While providing proficiency during the claims process, she is able to undertake a multitude of responsibilities and ensure they are completed in a timely manner. Some of these tasks include directing and assigning contents related tasks to our specialists, maintaining a professional relationship with our clients, and relaying claim updates to the adjuster assigned.

GARY MOK

Gary Mok has been involved in the insurance industry since 1979. He has worked for several major insurance carriers, handling all types of property claims. Gary worked as an independent public adjuster and a construction superintendent before joining Michigan Fire Claims, Inc. He has been a licensed public adjuster for the past 16 years and specializes in handling both commercial and residential claims. Gary's work ethic and dedication have earned him the designation of Senior Professional Public Adjuster.

HOWARD MERTZ

Howard is a Licensed Public Adjuster, Appraiser, and Loss Consultant. Howard came aboard the Michigan Fire Claims team in 2016. Having spent many years as a business owner in Oakland County, Howard brings with him an extensive knowledge of professional industries and specializes in commercial insurance claims. As a Loss Consultant, Howard educates business and homeowners of their rights and offers interpretation of their insurance policy in order to maximize their settlements from their insurance claims. Howard is celebrating his marriage to a wonderful woman of 28 years, and together they have two talented sons who are in college: one being a second-year medical student, and the other a scholarship athlete at Wayne State University.

JASON MARX

Jason Marx is a fourth generation carpenter who began practicing with his grandfather, father, and brother before graduating high school. After college, Jason began working as a carpenter full time and specialized in all types of carpentry including residential, commercial, and industrial. His work consisted of building and remodeling homes, hotels, and Home Depots. He also participated in commercial work at GM technical center. Jason started working as an adjuster assistant/estimator in the latter part of the last century, helping his father with catastrophic adjusting all of the U.S. using Simsol. At the beginning of this century, Jason began working as an independent insurance adjuster handling daily claims for multiple insurance companies using Marshall Swift Boeckh and Xactimate, scoping and writing countless building estimates. In 2009, he officially became a building estimator for Michigan Fire Claims, Inc. Jason is the fifth of six children and has four children of his own. The eldest born in 1997 and the youngest born in 2015. He spends the spring, summer, and fall gardening, canning, and making jams, jellies, and apple cider. He enjoys camping with his family, paintballing in his free time, and is a novice gamer.

KAY BINDER

Kay Binder has been employed with Michigan Fire Claims, Inc. since 2008 as a contents specialist. She specializes in both residential and commercial claims. Kay currently holds the position of Senior Contents Specialist as well as a licensed public adjuster. Some of her duties include performing physical inventories, researching replacement costs, and re-creating a detailed contents list with the insured, when no physical inventory is possible. Kay's great customer service skills give her the ability to show compassion while assisting clients during such a devastating time in their lives.

KRISSY BALCER

Krissy is the newest member of the Michigan Fire Claims team, joining us in the last half of 2018. As a very caring and compassionate person, she makes an excellent addition to our contents team. She grew up in a small town in Millington and recently relocated to Fenton. She has certifications in first aid, CPR, and blood borne pathogens. In her time outside of work, she enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with her son, Easton.

Matt Slotka - VP

Matt Slotka is currently Vice President and shareholder of Michigan Fire Claims, Inc. Matt has 20 years of expertise in both residential & business personal property, specializing in multi-million dollar residential, commercial, institutional and industrial claims. Matt is frequently appointed appraiser for the insured on disputed property claims. Matt is a member of the National Association of Public Insurance Adjusters and an associate member of the Michigan Association of Public Insurance Adjusters. Matt received his Bachelor's degree from Michigan State University.

NICOLE LEITER

Nicole joined the Michigan Fire Claims family in 2014 as a Contents Specialist. She relocated to the Metro-Detroit area from Traverse City, Michigan, bringing with her several years' experience in property and casualty restoration and personal content inventory industries. After joining the MFC team, Nicole assisted in inventorying, documentation, pricing, and the presentation of hundreds of claims. Early in 2016, she made the transition from Contents Specialist to Sales and Marketing Assistant. Nicole's hobbies include writing and spending time with her two children.

Nik Kalaj - President

Nik Kalaj, President of Michigan Fire Claims, Inc., has held his Public Adjuster's License since January 25, 1993. Nik has spent his professional career helping thousands of insureds receive their maximum settlements on property loss claims, emphasizing on transparency. Nik offers a high level of compassion and empathy, as well as professional guidance, to those going through a devastating loss. Given that Nik has been a part of the industry for over two decades, he is able to provide adequate knowledge relating to various catastrophic claims, regardless of the nature of the loss. Nik's interests include reading, donating to various charities, and spending time with his family. Nik is a long-time member of NAPIA - National Association of Public Insurance Adjusters - and is also the founder of Ohio Fire Claims.

OLIVIA RUSE

Olivia is a Licensed Public Adjuster, Appraiser, and Loss Consultant. She has been helping people in the community meet their needs for over 10 years now. Her background includes working with homeowners to secure a proper mortgage in a timely matter as well as helping them to achieve financial freedom and peace of mind in safely protecting their estate through insurance policies. She brings with her to Michigan Fire Claims not only experience in the industry, but also an associates degree in Business Administration. She is consistently always learning new and improved ways she can help meet her clients needs in determining how to accurately and properly navigate through the insurance claims process while alleviating the stress and burden that most homeowners are overwhelmed by. When she is not working she is very dedicated to spending quality time with her friends and family or enjoying her hobbies. Her hobbies include reading, biking, and teaching herself to play the guitar.
