Aliana (Ally) Mediratta

Aliana (Ally) Mediratta joined the New Sector team in the summer of 2022 to help copyedit, wordsmith, and smooth out details. Prior to this summer, her writing experience comes from her positions as a staff writer for her college and high school newspapers and as a creative writing enthusiast. She is a rising sophomore at Washington University in St. Louis, majoring in Women's Gender and Sexuality Studies and minoring in Philosophy. Ally's hobbies include reading, writing, knitting, and doing crossword puzzles.

Carly Janson

Carly founded New Sector in 2000 and served as CEO until 2013. She re-joined the organization in 2017 as executive chair. In addition to her role with New Sector, Carly currently serves on the leadership team of the Career Management Center at Stanford Graduate School of Business, where she oversees career development for MBA and mid-career students and alumni. Carly started her career in management consulting, serving clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to large nonprofits to public sector agencies. Her professional experience also includes serving as a co-founder of the Social Impact Practice at The Boston Consulting Group and an adjunct faculty member at Harvard University. Carly has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in economics, magna cum laude, from Princeton University. Carly's hobbies include running, skiing, and spending time with her husband and two children.

Dave Evans

Dave joined the New Sector family as a senior advisor in 2017. He is the author of the 2016 #1 New York Times bestseller Designing Your Life: How to Build a Well-Lived, Joyful Life and a Stanford mechanical engineering design group faculty member, where he teaches the popular Designing Your Life courses at the d.school. He is also the co-founder of the Stanford Life Design Lab. Dave's passion is helping emerging, and experienced professionals apply the innovative principles of design thinking to the "wicked problem" of designing your life. Prior to joining Stanford as a faculty member in 2007, Dave spent over 30 years in executive leadership and management consulting in high technology companies. He product managed the first mouse and early laser-printing projects at Apple, was a co-founder of Electronic Arts and has consulted with dozens of startups and major corporations. Dave has both a BS and MS in mechanical engineering from Stanford.

Heidi Brooks

Heidi Brooks has been an active advisor to New Sector since 2003 and became New Sector's board treasurer in 2017. Based in Boston with a national reach, Heidi has a keen understanding of nonprofit needs, challenges, and opportunities. She is known for her deep knowledge and connections across the sector and for her ability to navigate issues with a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens. Heidi is currently the chief operating officer at the National Insitute for Children's Health Quality (NICHQ), an organization focused on public health and equity. Prior to this role, Heidi served in leadership roles at the Bridgespan Group, John Hancock, Citizens, and the Schott Foundation. Outside of work, she also serves on the boards of Crittenton Women's Union and Associated Grantmakers. Heidi became affiliated with New Sector in 2002 when she was a member of New Sector's inaugural cohort of Summer Fellows as a Harvard Business School MBA student. She spent her summer serving at Year Up and working directly with founder and CEO Gerald Chertavian. Heidi has an MBA from Harvard Business School, an MA from Johns Hopkins, and a BA from the University of South Carolina. When not working or volunteering, Heidi enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters.

Marcia Mundt

Marcia joined New Sector in 2015 to serve as a subject-matter expert on program and curriculum design, training, and monitoring and evaluation. Marcia uses qualitative and quantitative research and science-based strategies to evaluate the impact of New Sector's programs and alumni network. Since 2015, she has developed all of New Sector's monitoring and evaluation systems and tools, including a "bleeding edge" set of indicators to measure sentiment and mindset shifts created in partnership with educators and innovators from Stanford d.school and Stanford Graduate School of Education. Marcia's professional background is in both domestic and international service with the public and social sectors building and piloting intervention models, designing and delivering training, and evaluating impact. Marcia holds a Ph.D. and MS in public policy from the University of Massachusetts Boston, a MA in peace studies from the University of Bradford, and a BA in communication studies, government, and foreign languages from New Mexico State University. She enjoys hiking, traveling abroad, and spending time with her family.

Susie Lee

Job Titles:

Susie was an AmeriCorps Entrepreneur Corps Fellow at New Sector from 2004 to 2005 and served on New Sector's board of directors from 2010-2013 and 2017-2021. She supports the organization in a variety of advisory and mentoring capacities. Susie is currently an impact investor at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. Previously, she served as the chief investment officer at RSF Social Finance. She has built her career in venture capital and investment management for over a decade and has used her expertise to support a variety of social causes and nonprofit organizations both domestically and abroad. Susie has a BA in history from Columbia University and has completed core courses in the MBA program at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School. In her free time, Susie enjoys cooking and spending time with her husband and daughters.

Susie Mitchell

Susie joined the New Sector team in January 2019 as the Program & Operations Director. Susie is also the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Virtually Ahead, a virtual assistant agency specializing in operational support, social media management, and accounting for non-profits. She has over 20 years' experience in operations management in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors. She is passionate about the issues of homelessness, education, and global inequality. Susie holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas, Arlington. Additionally, she is certified in non-profit management and life coaching. Susie enjoys music, camping, swimming, reading, and spending time with her family.
