Nkanea Technologies, Inc. (NTI) was founded in 2003 to exploit non-thermal processed in surface modification. Most common processes use heat (thermal energy, temperature) for activation. However there are several other potential sources activation energies, scuh as Light (as in photo-chemistry), Sound (in sono-chemistry), Electriomagnetic Fields (as in electrochemistry) and Microwaves. Interestingly, non-thermal activation results in reaction products and yields that may be totally different from heat activated processes.
