Gaylord Nordine, MD, DPH, is a Board Certified Neuromedicine (Psychiatry) specialist and a Preventive Medicine, Health Policy, and Business Management consultant with 35 year experience in Neuromedical (Psychiatry) medical practice as well as health system development and management. He is founder, Chief Executive Officer, and President of Pathways, Inc., an Iowa corporation organized to support psychiatric health services, personal leadership skills, and development of innovative health system organizations and technologies. Dr. Nordine has practiced Neuromedicine (Psychiatry) more than 35 years, specializing in differential diagnosis, preventive medicine, and helping patients achieve mental health solutions they need to overcome personal, relationship, and employment challenges. His passions as a physician are accurate diagnosis and treatment of behavioral health conditions and other medical challenges that often accompany them. His training and experience support his ability to identify the causes of and treatments for anxiety disorders, emotional distress, mood (depressive) disorders, cognitive (problem solving) conditions, autism, attention deficit disorders, and conditions that disrupt thought processes. His neuromedicine background supports his ability to diagnose and treat neurocognitive conditions and traumatic brain injury. In addition to patient care, his professional mission is to develop and implement healthcare strategies that improve prevention, treatment outcomes, and health self-management. He facilitates the development of teams that employ communication, database integration, and provider/patient e-learning technologies that improve health systems. He has a proven record of achievements in personal healthcare, preventive medicine, building healthcare organizations, strategies to improve health policy, the integration of healthcare specialties, and health system cybernetic technologies. Dr. Nordine has also developed preventive medicine, policy, and management initiatives for the American Medical Association, state and federal agencies, and health technology companies. He established Pathways Clinical Associates, Iowa's first integrated services (psychiatry, psychology, and counseling) neuromedical health clinic in 1985, and assisted the organization of other health technology teams. He works with professional associations, research groups, healthcare providers, technology partners, and numerous preventive medicine, health policy, and management groups. In 2008 he led National Library of Medicine development of a Mobile Health System to detect and resolve stress related health problems that have affected military personnel. Pathways Cybernetics, LLC, a health technology component, extends this system throughout the United States and globally. His clinical, health systems, and management experience augments five Pathways Health System Groups - Pathways Clinical Associates, Pathways Business Consultation Group, Pathways Personal Development Group, Pathways Cybernetic Systems, and Pathways Healthcare Research Group. He holds academic degrees in Chemistry from the University of Nebraska, Neuromedical Psychiatry from Northwestern University, and Preventive Medicine/Health Policy/Management from the University of Michigan.
