A. Bryan Tomlinson is a Principal in the Firm's Professional Liability Department and Medical Malpractice Practice Group. For over a decade, he has focused his practice on the defense of hospitals and caregivers in medical malpractice litigation.
Mr. Tomlinson's litigation-based practice includes trial, arbitration, and mediation experience in both state and federal courts. He is also involved in the local bar and has been appointed as an arbitrator and discovery court Judge Pro Tempore by the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas. He is actively involved in each aspect of his clients' cases, including preparing pleadings; responding to written discovery; arguing discovery, dispositive, and pre-trial motions; deposing witnesses; preparing medical providers for depositions; preparing witnesses and parties for arbitration and trial testimony; developing case defenses with medical experts; trial preparation; and settlement negotiations.
Since 2014, Mr. Tomlinson has been named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyers "Rising Star" by his peers in the area of medical malpractice defense. As President & CEO, Mr. Johnston, in consultation with the Board of Directors, manages the Firm's strategic growth initiatives; corporate compliance program; quality assurance and client service initiatives; marketing and communications programs; and accounting and financial management.
In addition to serving as President & CEO, Mr. Johnston is also Chair of the Firm's largest department, Business Law & Litigation, the former Chair of its national Employment & Employee Relations Practice Group, and is a member of the Firm's national Health Care Practice Group.
Mr. Johnston joined Post & Schell in 1982 and, in his over three-decade career representing employers, has compiled substantial experience in defending clients against the full range of employment discrimination claims in state and federal courts. He represents for-profit and not-for-profit corporations, and their directors, officers, and employees in multiple industries, including health care, before state and federal courts, federal, state, and local administrative agencies.
Mr. Johnston is a 1980 graduate of Pennsylvania State University's Dickinson School of Law and a 1977 graduate of Dickinson College. He served as a Clerk to Justice William D. Hutchinson, Pennsylvania Supreme Court, as well as The Honorable Roy Wilkinson, Jr., Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania.

Amalia V. Romanowicz is Chair of the firm's Professional Liability Defense Department, Principal in its Medical Malpractice Litigation Practice Group, and Member of the firm's Board of Directors. She focuses her practice on the defense of clients, including physicians, nurses, hospitals, long-term care and assisted living facilities, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, pharmacies, and pharmacists, at trials, mediations, and arbitrations involving cases with often catastrophic losses and significant injuries that present substantial exposure.
Ms. Romanowicz is an experienced trial lawyer who has litigated diverse cases in the medical negligence field in jury trials venued in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties. Her over two decades of trial, mediation, and arbitration experience includes a diverse range of cases, including representation of doctors and nurses in cases involving claims of improper medical screening under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA), alleged injuries/death resulting from errors and negligence during the surgical process, and alleged misdiagnosis/failure to diagnose. She has represented pharmacists in cases involving alleged mis-fills, failure-to-identify, and incorrect packaging that involve catastrophic loss and injury.
She represents clients in most major medical sub-specialties, including emergency medicine, surgery, pathology, radiology, oncology, orthopedics, labor and delivery, and gynecology, among others.
Prior to her career as an attorney, Ms. Romanowicz was a practicing pharmacist for nearly a decade, working for a hospital, and a national retail pharmacy chain. She also managed a major retail pharmacy location overseeing pharmacy and retail operations.
Ms. Romanowicz serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Mission Kids, a Montgomery County, PA-based non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization providing multidisciplinary care to alleged victims of sexual and physical abuse.
Since 2011, Ms. Romanowicz has been recognized as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer (top 5%) by her peers. In 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016, she was also listed in Super Lawyers Business Edition. In its 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 editions, The Best Lawyers in America© recognized Ms. Romanowicz in the category of Professional Malpractice Law - Defendants and was recognized as a "Lawyer of the Year" in 2023 in the same category.
