Desirae graduated from Daeman College in 2018 with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. She is an alumni of Union Endicott High School, where she ran cross country and played basketball. Desirae worked as a Travel Physical Therapist for 2.5 years along the east coast, working in both Skilled Nursing Facilities and Outpatient Rehab Centers. During the pandemic, she moved home to be close to family and worked at Lourdes Home Care, where she specialized in Wound Care services. Desirae started working for STPT in June of 2022 and is an asset to our family here at STPTA.
John graduated from SUNY Broome with his A.A.S. in Physical Therapy. He graduated from Deposit High School where he kept active in wrestling and football and attended Lebonan Valley College where he played football. He is extremely active with his family, church, and community. He is a Deacon within his church, President of Deposit Little League and is a member of the Town of Sanford Board of Appeals. He has a family of five that keep him busy as well. John coaches football, baseball, and wrestling. While at work, John works alongside Joshua Hundley. John is also a very knowledgeable PTA. He makes it known he is here to help, where ever and whenever someone may need it. John began working with Southern Tier Physical Therapy Associates since 1993 and is a wonderful professional and asset to our family here at STPTA.
Josh graduated from Misericordia University in 2013 with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy. He is also a Certified Kinesio Taping Professional. While attending Misericordia Josh played Lacrosse. He is currently coaching Lacrosse at Chenango Valley High School. Josh also enjoys working with athletes both pre/post-surgery and has experience in manipulations of thoracic and lumbar spine as well as other joint extremities. Josh is a Chenango Valley Alumni. Josh began working with Southern Tier Physical Therapy in 2013, is a very caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable young professional and is an asset to our family here at STPTA.

Marissa graduated from SUNY Broome in 2021 with a A.A.S. Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant. She came to STPTA while in school for her clinical education and has been a part of the team ever since. Marissa takes pride in helping others get back to feeling their best. When she's not working you can find her spending time with her family and their horse, Nelly.
Pat graduated from SUNY Broome with his A.A.S in Physical Therapy Assistant. He has worked alongside many Physical Therapists and is a very knowledgeable PTA. He keeps busy with his faith, wife, and two boys who are active in sports within the community. Pat works alongside Tom Janik and has been an amazing asset to our family at Southern Tier Physical Therapy Associates since 1993.
Gina graduated from SUNY Broome with an A.A.S. in Physical Therapy Assistant in 2001. She is a certified Personal Trainer with National Strength & Conditioning Association. She graduated from Tioga Central High School in 1998 where she was active in Volleyball and Basketball, as well as co-coaching TiCann volleyball for two years. Gina also conducts testing for Functional Capacity Evaluations done at Southern Tier Physical Therapy's Vestal Location. Gina works alongside Kelsey Heller, but is definitely not afraid to lend a helping hand wherever it is needed. Gina came to work with Southern Tier Physical Therapy Associates since 2001 and has been a hardworking professional and an asset to our family here at STPTA ever since
Renee attended the University of Buffalo where she graduated with her Physical Therapy degree. Renee is our Aqua Therapist and also specializes in hand therapy. Renee has an open mind, is easy to talk to, and is never afraid to try new techniques. She bases a lot of her exercises on yoga. Along with having a busy professional life, Renee is a very active mom of two. She is active in her church and community. Renee enjoys teaching conditioning and core for a competitive dance team. Renee became a member of the family at Southern Tier Physical Therapy since 1995 and has played a key role ever since.
Thomas Janik, MPS, PT, CSCS, OCS- Tom graduated from Hartwick College, where he played Basketball, with a Bachelor Degree in Chemistry. He then went on to graduate from Upstate Medical Physical Therapy School in Syracuse. Tom is very active within his church and community. He coaches youth basketball and flag football at Maine Endwell, which is also his Alma Mater. Tom is also an Orthopedic Certified Specialist and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. He enjoys working with people who are motivated to become healthy. He is a very knowledgeable Physical Therapist who is more than willing to share his knowledge with fellow Physical Therapists, Physical Therapy Assistants, and patients who want to take control and feel better. So it makes sense why Tom runs a Back To Life Program and a Workout program for current or post Physical Therapy patients. Tom also has experience with joint manipulations and teaching self-manipulations. Tom became a key role and asset for Southern Tier Physical Therapy Associates since 2001 and now owns the business.
Zachary graduated from SUNY Broome in 2018 with a A.A.S. Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant. He graduated from SUNY Cortland in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fitness Development. He is a Main-Endwell Graduate of 2009 and played baseball, basketball, ran cross-country, and track. He also played collegiately at SUNY Broome. Zachary has 5 years of personal training experience and is a current personal trainer at YMCA of Broome County with a focus in strength and conditioning. He is an avid lifter and fitness enthusiast. Zachary primarily works with Renee Barkwell-Wilson and carries out physical therapy duties for both aqua and land patients.
