Amy Paasch

Amy oversees UFA's New Markets Tax Credits compliance activities. She also provides project intake, underwriting and closing support for UFA's investment team. Prior to joining UFA in 2014 Amy was a Low-Income Housing Tax Credit compliance auditor with Steadfast Asset Management Company where she was responsible for project-level regulatory compliance and reporting. She spends her free time traveling with her husband and taking a variety of classes to support her interests.

Ashley Dills - SVP

Ashley is responsible for business development and financing activities out of UFA's New York City office. Ashley has more than 15 years of experience working at various nonprofit real estate and financial institutions in business development, capitalization, financial and risk analysis and portfolio management functions. Prior to joining UFA, Ashley led the business development and finance efforts for Civic Builders, Inc., a nonprofit real estate developer serving the charter school sector. Prior to this, she served as a member of the financial services team at the Nonprofit Finance Fund, a national Community Development Financial Institution, where she performed portfolio management, raised capital and developed new financial products. Additionally, she has credit analysis and financial packaging experience with micro-enterprise loan funds and micro-entrepreneurs. Ashley currently serves as Board Treasurer for ROADS Charter High Schools, a network of public charter schools serving overage, under-credited students in New York City. She also is a member of the New York Loan Committee for Enterprise Community Loan Fund.

Cam Turner - Founder

Cam is a founding member of UFA and co-heads all management and investment activities of UFA and its affiliates. Cam develops investment strategies, raises investment capital and structures investments and loans. Cam has over 20 years' experience in real estate and corporate transactions, including private equity, structured finance, tax credit syndication, and business formation. Prior to joining UFA, he was an attorney with Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, P.C., focusing on securities and mergers and acquisitions. Cam serves on the boards of the Council of Development Finance Agencies, Micro Enterprise Services of Oregon and the New Markets Tax Credit Coalition. Cam enjoys skiing, rock climbing, cycling, and running.

Carl Talton

Carl Talton is the former Executive Chair of United Fund Advisors (UFA) and its affiliate Portland Family of Funds. As the Ex-Officio Chair, he oversees the UFA affiliate National Community Fund I advisory board and represents UFA in community-based and local government efforts. With more than 40 years experience in community and economic development in the public and private sectors as well as for profit and not for profit organizations, Carl is well-versed in how to leverage New Markets Tax Credits to optimize projects. Carl works with numerous community-based initiatives in and around Portland, Oregon to build economic capacity in disadvantaged communities. He currently serves on the Community Development Council of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, the Governor's Council on Economic Development for the Portland Metro Area, the Mayor of Portland's Council of Economic Advisors, Black Investment Consortium for Economic Progress, Concordia University Council of Trustees, Portland Community College Presidents Council, NNE Economic Development Alliance, and the NNE STEAM Coalition. Carl lives in Portland, where he spends his leisure time with his grandchildren and enjoys an occasional racquetball game.

Catherine Marel

Catherine joined UFA in 2004 and is responsible for all treasury and asset management functions of the company. Previously, Catherine worked in the editorial department of WH Freeman & Co. Publishing in New York, and served as finance manager for a local organic tea company. Outside of the office she enjoys traveling with her husband, skiing and hiking.

Chris Hasle - Founder

Chris is founding member of UFA and has worked in the tax credit industry since 2004. As a principal, he is responsible for driving the overall strategy and direction of the company and serving as a liaison to key stakeholders. Prior to UFA, Chris worked for a private international real estate investment firm. Outside of work, Chris spends his free time with his wife and three daughters and plays tennis and golf as often as possible.

Fatoumata Kone

Job Titles:

As accountant at UFA, Fatou supports UFA's Asset and Risk Management Team by providing intra-company and investor financial reports and assisting with annual audits and tax returns. Prior to joining UFA, she worked as an Administrative Assistant for the United Nations Missions in Mali where she performed various tasks including reports, data management and all other administrative duties.

Flynn Mahoney

Flynn supports UFA's lending and investment activity through pipeline development, investment structuring, and capital deployment. Flynn joined UFA in 2021 after spending the previous five years in Washington DC, most recently as Finance Manager of a CDFI, where he was responsible for the accounting, financial operations, and portfolio management of the loan fund and its subsidiaries. Flynn brings with him experience in tax credit finance, commercial real estate, and non-traditional project finance. Based in Missoula, MT, Flynn enjoys mountain biking and fishing every alpine lake he can find.

Jenny Baranick

Jenny supports UFA's investment activities through allocation application development. Prior to joining UFA in 2023, Jenny facilitated business writing courses for various organizations and executive development programs. She has also written several writing-related books and articles. Jenny enjoys reading, writing, and spending time with her husband and daughter in her free time.

Luke Peterson - CFO

Luke is responsible for UFA's core accounting operations, which includes reporting of financial and accounting information, maintenance of an internal control system which ensures accuracy in reporting & elements of regulatory compliance, budget and cash management, financial records maintenance, timely and efficient accounts receivable and payable maintenance, supervision & management of team members. Luke has six years of experience in public accounting. He was formerly an accountant with TKW CPA Firm where he concentrated on testing internal controls and supervising audits of governmental entities. Previously, he prepared tax returns for small companies and individuals at Smerdon & Brewer. He enjoys playing basketball in his free time.

Robin Stewart - VP

Robin supports UFA's lending and investment activity. She performs financial and compliance due diligence and tracks and evaluates the deployment of invested capital. Robin joined UFA in 2016 as an Asset Manager and was responsible for loan servicing and collateral management, as well as certain NMTC compliance and financial reporting operations. She studied accounting at Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA, and has both general ledger accounting and audit experience. Prior to joining UFA, Robin worked for a private equity firm in Washington, DC. Robin enjoys hiking and biking in her free time.

Shelly Crowder - SVP

Shelly structures, underwrites, closes and unwinds financing for community and economic development projects for UFA and its clients. She has over 18 years of real estate experience with a focus on finance, compliance, reporting, commercial asset management, and development including accounting and construction management. Prior to joining UFA, Shelly was the Director of the New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) program for Enterprise Community Investment, Inc. There she was responsible for the day-to-day management of Enterprise's NMTC program, including investor relations, deal selection, underwriting, portfolio management and compliance. Shelly currently serves on the NMTC Advisory Board for Enterprise Bank and Trust and is on the Advisory Committee of the CCML Asset Management Roundtable. She lives in Maryland and enjoys spending her free time with her husband, family and friends. Shelly is also a certified yoga teacher.

Steven Rash

Steven is responsible for assisting with the reporting of financial and accounting information, supporting the integration of asset management activities with investment activities, coordinating specified compliance operations of UFA, loan servicing and collateral management. Prior to joining UFA, Steven was a Senior Accountant with Novogradac & Company where he acquired New Markets Tax Credit industry experience. Steven calls the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina home, where he loves listening to live folk music and in his spare time serves as Treasurer for the Alleghany Arts Council in Sparta, NC.

Taryn Williames

Taryn supports UFA's investment activities through allocation application development. Following her undergraduate degree, she studied International Affairs, focusing in nonprofit management at Texas A&M University. Prior to joining UFA in 2022, Taryn worked in funding development and grants administration at an arts and culture nonprofit in Texas, and gained federal, state, and local government award application experience. Taryn enjoys watching movies and hanging out with her dog, Honeycomb, in her free time.
