Andy Smith

Andy started his career working with Tarmac Construction as a Quantity Surveyor, and later joined a specialist fit-out contracting firm, where he undertook a part-time Quantity Surveying Degree course at Liverpool John Moores University. Andy joined G F Holding in 1994 and works across all projects.

Craig Harwood

Craig started his career as an apprentice carpenter in 1995, achieving NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry & Joinery. Having worked his way up to Site Manager and then Project Manager on retail refurbishments, Craig joined G F Holding as a Site Manager in 2015, completing an NVQ Level 5 in Construction & Civils Management in 2017. He left G F Holding to join another retail & leisure fit-out contractor as a Contract Manager and completed an NVQ Level 7 Diploma in Construction Senior Management. Craig re-joined G F Holding in 2024 as a Contract Manager working on a range of leisure projects, including bars, restaurants, cinemas and casinos.

Dave Furber

Dave started his career as an Apprentice Quantity Surveyor in 1987. Since then, he has worked for a number of Tier 1 Contractors, Specialist, and Fit-out Contractors, providing commercial support with a particular focus on leisure and retail projects. Dave joined G F Holding in 2022 and works across all projects.

Jake McNicholl

Having left school keen to develop a career in construction, Jake undertook an HNC in Construction, followed by a Quantity Surveying degree at the University of Salford. Following a short spell with another contractor, Jake joined G F Holding in 2011 as a Trainee Estimator. Jake works closely with our Quantity Surveyors and Site Managers, across all our projects.

Jeff Barton - Managing Director

On leaving school, Jeff joined Gleeds to train as a Quantity Surveyor. He joined G F Holding in 1981 as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor. Jeff worked his way up through the company, becoming Commercial Director in 1993; and Managing Director in 2017. Jeff is proud of G F Holding's client-base, and remains passionate about delivering a high quality finish and service to all our clients. He has worked closely with the Holding family to develop the business into the market-leading building and fit-out contractors.

John Dodds

John started his career as a joiner, undertaking a 4 year apprenticeship. After this time he undertook an HND Business & Finance at Newcastle University, achieving distinctions in all modules. John joined GF Holding in 1996. He spent 10 years as a Site Manager, and then progressed to a Contracts Manager, becoming Construction Director in April 2022. John works on a range of projects, including bars, restaurants, cinemas, casinos, holiday parks, bowling alleys, and banks.

Lee Chadwick MCIOB - CFO

On leaving school Lee trained as a joiner. He worked for various contractors, undertaking various building qualifications; and worked his way up to Contracts Manager. Lee joined G F Holding in 2011 and works on a range of leisure projects, from restaurants, bars, casinos and cinemas. Lee is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building.

Liam McKeever - CFO, Chief Commercial Officer

After graduating from Manchester University in 1984, Liam qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the Manchester office of a national practice which subsequently became part of Deloitte. On leaving private practice, Liam spent two years as the Finance Manager of a demolition business. He joined G F Holding in 1992, and became Finance Director in 1999. During that time G F Holding has moved from an £8million turnover business to over £35million.

Martin Leyden - Chief Commercial Officer

Martin qualified as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor in 1988. He worked in various companies, including within private practice and specialist fit-out contracting firms, before joining G F Holding in 2006. Martin works across all projects.

Matt Brammer

After undertaking an Urban Studies Degree, Matt started his career working in the Accounts Departments at various companies, before joining the Accounts Team at G F Holding in the year 2000. Matt has undertaken a number of different roles within G F Holding; working his way upto Health & Safety Manager. Matt works across all projects, putting together Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Construction Phase Plans and providing ongoing Health & Safety training.

Neil Poole

On leaving school Neil started his career in construction, joining Browns of Wilmslow as a Building Technician, and working his way up to Estimator. During this time he undertook a number of qualifications, including ONC and HNC in Building Studies. Neil joined G F Holding in 1995. Neil works across all projects.

Stuart Reavy

Stuart joined G F Holding in 2019 as a Contracts Manager, with a wealth of experience. On leaving school in 1981, Stuart joined his family's decorating business, whilst undertaking a number of construction-based qualifications. He left that business to set up and run his own building contracting firm, which led him to undertake the Site Manager role for a number of his clients' projects. Stuart now works across a range of leisure projects, from restaurants, cinemas, casinos and bars.

Terry Barnes - CFO, Chief Commercial Officer

Terry started his career as a joiner for various specialist fit-out contracting firms, working his way up to foreman and site manager. He joined G F Holding in 1997 as a site manager, and became a Contracts Manager in 2011. G F Holding supported Terry in undertaking an ONC, HNC and Diploma in Building Studies at Blackpool & Fylde College. Terry left G F Holding at the end of 2018, and returned in January 2020. Terry works on a range of leisure projects, including bars, restaurants, cinemas and casinos. He is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building.

Tom Barry

Tom started his career as a carpenter and dry-liner. After a number of years in construction, he attended university and gained a First Class Honours degree in Quantity Surveying from Anglia Ruskin University and has a Level 3 certificate from the Institute of Leadership & Management. Tom has over 20 years' experience in construction, quantity surveying and estimating on leisure projects. Tom joined G F Holding in 2022 and works across all projects.
