AMHERST IDA

The AIDA was created in 1973 by an act of the NYS Legislature as an independent NYS Public Benefit Corporation. The AIDA is not a Town of Amherst Department, nor does it receive any financial assistance from Town Government to sustain its operations as it operates by fees generated on projects. Currently, the AIDA has four full-time staff members and qualified professionals to assist it in carrying out its mission... Economic development today is a community-wide effort focused on people, knowledge, networks, and linking community assets. Through a strategic business development plan, we embrace these principals via controlled growth in accordance with the Town Master Plan, and Countywide eligibility policies to determine who, what, how, and where businesses should go.
