Amber Summers RVN

Job Titles:
  • Head Veterinary Nurse
Amber qualified as an RVN in 2017. She previously worked in South Wales in a busy small animal practice with a lot of emergency and out of hours work. Amber has a keen interest in surgical nursing and medicine. She is really enjoying learning about all the exotics we see at Birch Heath. Amber has three cats called Alfie, Moose and The Payrot, named because she sits like a parrot.

Carole Ashworth

Job Titles:
  • Member of the Support Team
  • Receptionist
Carole joined the reception team in 2018, and really enjoys meeting all the clients and their pets. She says it's a very interesting and varied job where no two days are the same. Carole loves being part of our amazing and dedicated team. Outside of work she loves walking her dog called Charlie and spending time with her family.

David Bass

Job Titles:
  • Veterinary Surgeon
David graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2015 and initially worked in mixed practice for six years in between Scarborough and North Wales. He has a particular interest in all aspects of surgery and exotics and joined us at Birch heath vets in April 2021. In his spare time, he enjoys exploring North Wales with his Springer Spaniel, Max.

Jack Williams

Job Titles:
  • Veterinary Surgeon
Jack graduated from the University of Liverpool in July 2018. After spending three months in South Africa working with big game wildlife and another three months in small animal practice, Jack joined Birch Heath in April 2019. Jack has always had an interest in wildlife and exotic medicine, having undertaken his elective in wildlife and exotics medicine, and is always keen to learn more. At home Jack has two Labradors, Bea and Pippin, a cat called Darcy, a tortoise called Darwin, and three chickens called Mary, Mungo, and Midge. In his spare time can be found walking his two Labradors in Delemere forest. He also enjoys tennis, karate, and is an avid singer.

Katie Tipping

Job Titles:
  • Veterinary Surgeon
Katie studied for her veterinary degree at Liverpool University in 2009 after working as a qualified nurse for two years. Originally from the West Midlands, she has moved to Cheshire to continue her passion of working with exotics at Birch Heath Veterinary Clinic. Katie has a surrogate dog called Izzy, a male Jack Russell cross Yorkshire Terrier who was an RSPCA case at her previous practice.

Kelly Lynskey

Job Titles:

Kelly joined us here at Birch heath vets in 2017, since then she has had a baby and has taken a temporary step back from her Student Veterinary Nursing role and has joined our Reception team. Outside of work Kelly enjoys spending time with her little girl and giving her attention to her two lovely cats Drax and Shadow. Kelly is currently on maternity leave following the birth of her second daughter.

Kirstie Adams

Kirstie has worked in practice for over 10 years and qualified as a registered veterinary nurse in 2007. She has worked at Birch Heath since 2003. She has an interest in all aspects of exotic nursing, particularly raptors. Kirstie has also completed her exotic nursing qualification to further her skills. She has a degree in zoology and gained a qualification in zoo animal management whilst working at a zoo for two years. Kirstie is the owner of Spike the dog, and two cats.

Leanne Roberts

Leanne graduated from the University of Liverpool in July 2013. She acquired a passion for exotic animal medicine after working in a wildlife hospital in Queensland, Australia as part of her degree and also completed an elective placement with the Chester Zoo veterinary team. She started her working life in a large busy mixed practice in Northumberland, mainly focusing on small and exotic animal medicine. She started at Birch Heath Veterinary Clinic in 2015 after moving back to her home town of Chester. She completed her Postgraduate Certificate in Exotic Animal Studies in August 2020. In her spare time she enjoys horse riding, water skiing and walking with her Border Collie Tetley and Golden Retriever Indy.

Mel Winward

Job Titles:

  • Receptionist
Mel joined our team in August 2017 as a Receptionist and is now preparing to start her Veterinary Nurse Training. She enjoys seeing all the different variety of animals that come into the practice but particularly the exotics. Mel is kept busy outside of work with her two children and numerous animals, including her two Cats Harry and Maisie, Sammy the Tortoise and Horses.

Sharon Leigh

Job Titles:

Sharon joined the reception team in October 2020, fulfilling her dream of working with animals after spending many years in a customer service role in both retail and office management. Outside of work Sharon enjoys going on long walks with her dog called Rusty, and spending time with her Grandchildren.

Suzetta Cameron

Job Titles:
  • Veterinary Surgeon
Suzetta qualified from Liverpool in 1994 and has worked at Birch Heath Veterinary Clinic for over ten years. She now works part-time as an exotic and small animal vet and has extensive experience of all aspects of both small animal and exotic veterinary medicine. She has completed an MSc in wild animal health, holds a zoology degree and has advanced practitioner status from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS). Suzetta has contributed to current literature and exotics textbooks and has a particular interest in diagnostic imaging. She has a mischievous Field Spaniel called Myrtle.
