BLACKWATER CASTLE - Key Persons

Take the M8 Dublin direction, leave the Motorway at exit 15/Fermoy. In Fermoy at the crossroad of McCurtain Street/Patrick Street/Bridge Street turn left and cross the River Blackwater, turn left again following the sign to Mallow/Killarney onto the N72 and stay on it for about 8 miles/15 km. In Castletownroche in the centre of the village turn left at The Rock Forest Bar/ Community Hall towards the Bridgetown Priory, after 80m metres turn left through the gate of the Castle.

Take the M7/M8 Cork direction, leave the Motorway at exit 14 Fermoy/Kilworth. Coming down the hill towards Fermoy at the church on the right (just before the bridge crossing the river) turn right following the sign to Mallow/Killarney onto the N72 and stay on it for about 7 miles/12 km. (Do not cross the bridge into the town of Fermoy - the right turn onto the N72 is just before the bridge). In Castletownroche in the centre of the village turn left at The Rock Forest Bar/ Community Hall towards the Bridgetown Priory, after 80m metres turn left through the gate of the Castle.

Take the M20/N20 Cork direction. Pass through Charleville and Ballyhea. About 2 km after Ballyhea turn left at the junction signposted Doneraile/Mitchelstown N73 (Caution: turn comes after a long left bend on the N20 - the road is also quite narrow from here on). Drive through Doneraile, at the top of the village turn left (road follows the high wall of Doneraile Park - the main road veers right). The road meets the N73 after about 5 km. Turn right onto the N73 and after 20 metres turn left again. After another 20 metres turn right - Castletownroche is signposted to the right at this junction. In Castletownroche turn right at the Post Office, turn left at The Rock Forest Bar/ Community Hall towards the Bridgetown Priory, after 80m metres turn left through the gate of the Castle.
