The coastline of Dorset is mostly comprised of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, an area of outstanding natural beauty and of special scientific interest. The county town is Dorchester. Bournemouth and Christchurch joined Dorset in 1974, having been in Hampshire previously. Sandbanks, a suburb of Poole, has one of the highest land values (by area) in the world.
