Afua joined our team as a registered dental hygienist after graduating, with honors, from NYU College of Dentistry's Dental Hygiene Program. She is a NYS registered dental hygienist with certification in the administration of nitrous oxide and local anesthesia.

Dr. Alan M. Smolen has been a trusted name in dentistry for over 30 years. He is committed to helping his patients achieve healthy, beautiful smiles and is dedicated to continuing his education in order to provide the most up-to-date treatment possible.
Dr. Smolen has attended the prestigious Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education as well as advanced studies at NYU's College of Dentistry. As the Educational Director of Full Mouth Rehab at the school's continuing dental education program, he donates his time and skills in teaching other dentists how to restore the smiles of people with significant dental disabilities.
In his current clinical practice in New York, Dr. Smolen specializes in personalized solutions to complex dental problems. He is dedicated to offering the best in customer service and patient care. "Every person is unique," he says, "And their treatment should be tailored to their needs and wants." He earned his degrees at Temple University and currently makes his home in New York with his wife, Jill and daughter, Sophie.
Dr. Smolen has had success with numerous difficult cases. Examples include a 60 year old patient who had always hated her smile. After a routine examination, Dr. Smolen showed her a computer simulation of what her teeth could look like if she used cosmetic dentistry. Liking what she saw, she gave Dr. Smolen the go ahead to redesign her smile. "The final result has far exceeded my expectations. I just love my smile now," she said.
Another case was that of an 84 year old patient who had already lost several back teeth and whose remaining teeth were chipped and worn. Dr. Smolen showed her how he could rebuild her teeth to their original shape and size. When it was all finished, the client expressed her gratitude, "I am most grateful for this gift which has resulted in a big boost to my spirit."

Dr. Arielle C. Statham grew up in the beautiful state of Maryland, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland College Park (UMCP). Dr. Statham received a full interscholastic athletic scholarship at UMCP; therefore, when not studying, she spent her time training and competing as a division I athlete in Track and Field. Dr. Statham then furthered her education at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, where she received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree.
Upon graduating, she completed a General Practice Residency at Saint Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, NY. She then stayed an additional year as she was selected to serve as Chief Resident. During this time, she underwent extensive training in oral surgery, root canal therapy, implant surgery, and cosmetic dentistry. The additional training allowed for honed intangible qualities such as leadership skills and superior bedside manner. Due to her efforts, Dr. Statham received the Vincent Silane Award in acknowledgment of her dedication to dentistry, compassionate attention to the needs of her patients, professionalism, camaraderie, and daily display of expertise.
Dr. Statham is an outgoing and down-to-earth dentist who works to understand her patients and thoroughly communicates the reasons for recommended treatment. She believes in using the latest technologies to provide the highest quality of dental care. Her patients will be the first to mention how comfortable and easy she makes dental appointments. Outside the office, she loves getting outdoors to climb, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Daniel A. Narain, a native of Atlanta, GA, graduated from Morehouse College with a B.S. in Chemistry and minor in Mathematics. He then spent 3 years after college working on the island of Aruba where his mother is from and subsequently moved to Philadelphia, PA where he received a Doctorate in Dental Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania.
While in Brooklyn, Dr. Narain completed a General Practice Residency at Lutheran Medical Center and Advance Program Periodontics in at NYU Lutheran. Dr. Narain prides himself on communication and building trust with his patients; he feels that communication is the key to proper oral healthcare. He is a board-certified periodontist, practicing in New York, New Jersey, and Aruba. Dr. Narain also lectures internationally in the field of periodontics.
Dr. Narain's hobbies include working out in the gym, playing basketball in a local recreation league, traveling and mentoring aspiring dentists.

Dr. Shaun Massiah is as passionate about dentistry as they come, having recognized his calling for the profession when he was just 13 years old. Dr. Massiah's early revelation that he wanted to be a dentist happened when an American dentist came to volunteer in his hometown of Guyana. Dr. Massiah remembers, "I was so moved by his compassion and his expertise in his field, and I knew I wanted to be like him someday." Dr. Massiah decided right then and there that he would do whatever was necessary to pursue his dream.
Just four years after his encounter with the American dentist, Dr. Massiah left his home in Guyana to pursue a career as a dentist. He worked all through university before he attended New Jersey Dental School. It was there that he fell in love with the idea of "changing people's lives through dentistry." He now walks to his own personal practice from his home on the Upper West Side of NYC, where he lives with his wife and young son.
Since opening his practice in 2002, Dr. Massiah has established himself as one of the leading African American dentists in NYC. Always keeping his practice on the cutting edge of dentistry, he is extremely passionate, extremely dedicated to his work and spends much of his free time continuing to build upon his dental education by enrolling in new and exciting dental training seminars. Dr. Massiah is the former ADA Success speaker and the former President of the Greater NY chapter of the NDA.
Dr. White strives to provide exceptional dental care and education to every patient, as she believes dentistry is more than just a profession-it has the ability to change the outcome of a person's entire life. She discovered her passion for dentistry while participating in The Pipeline Program at the University of Michigan where she engaged in various hands-on activities with dental students and became intrigued by how much creativity and physical skill were involved. Upon completion of her Bachelor of Science degree in Evolutionary Anthropology at the University of Michigan, Dr. White went on to receive her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry.
While pursuing her dental degree, Dr. White completed outreach dental services for underserved communities in Lexington, and rural Kentucky. She also served as president of the UK chapter of the Student National Dental Association during which time she led the chapter to be awarded "Small Chapter of the Year" at the annual national convention. Dr. White's desire to continue broadening her skill set led her to NYC where she was matched as a resident at BronxCare Health System in the Bronx, NY. Upon completion of her residency program, Dr. White began working in the Hudson Valley. She is currently a member of the National Health Service Corp, the American Dental Association, and the Association of Black Women Dentists.
A native of Lansing, Michigan, Dr. White enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling the world, reading, indoor cycling, and trying new recipes.

Jasmily is the newest member of our team. She is originally from NYC and studied Business at City College of New York before making the transition to the dental field. She is a certified dental assistant and enjoys interacting with each patient and finds fulfillment in dentistry. She has a love of the outdoors, writing, singing, and spending quality time with her family.
