Dr. Chrischar Rock

Dr Chrischar Rock is a citizenship, multiculturalism and human rights practitioner with twenty years professional teaching and facilitation experience in the United Kingdom and South Africa. Between 2001-2014 she held the post of Head of Citizenship at two inner-city comprehensive North London colleges, developing and advising on several educational initiatives to promote citizenship education, youth engagement and political literacy. For many years she served as a teacher training mentor at the Institute of Education (University College London) and as an associate curriculum content writer for the National Schools Partnership. Chrischar has acted as a Leadership Coach on the Mandela Washington Fellowship Programme for their Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI). She is a Harvard Kennedy School of Government Executive Education Alumnis and holds a Masters' Degree in Education and International Development from UCL Institute of Education (UK), with a research focus on curriculum reform and teacher identity. In January 2017, Chrischar became a certified Master Instructor for the Institute for Leadership Development in Africa. Since her return to South Africa in 2015, Chrischar has channelled her professional experience to contribute to the evaluation and impact measurement of after school programmes in South Africa. This has included delivering short course programmes at Stellenbosch University to advance capacity building for practitioners who work in low and no-fee schools across the Western Cape. Currently, Chrischar is a Practical Learning lecturer in the Faculty of Education and co-ordinator of practical learning for all B.Ed cohorts. This position helps her to utilize her broad international teaching experience to contribute to the effective delivery of practical learning and preparing students for school-based practicum. Chrischar's research and interest areas include teachers' practices and perspectives in the delivery of democratic citizenship education in South African schools as well as exploring different tools to develop teachers' reflective practices and self-criticality.

Dr. Miriam Altman

Dr. Miriam Altman is a recognised thought leader, strategist and economist. She has deep experience in economic policy research, and also in leadership of major transformation initiatives. Most recently, she led the development of government's National Infrastructure Plan 2050, and before that was Chief of Strategy at Telkom leading its turnaround. She was a National Planning Commissioner in the Presidency for 11 years and one of the co-authors of the National Development Plan. She led a think tank for 10 years focused on how to address South Africa's high unemployment levels. She is a Professor of 4IR Practice in the Dept of Economics, University of Johannesburg. Miriam has economics degrees from McGill University, the University of Cambridge and the University of Manchester. She has a passionate commitment to youth empowerment, that is led by youth, which she believes is the foundation for South Africa's future success. In 2019, Miriam initiated the Youth Accelerating National Development in School Advancement (YANDISA) Program with an extensive group of youth co-creators, which was implemented in partnership with enke. It is from this collaboration that the Trailblazer+ Program was co-created between enke and Miriam, where she serves as a strategic advisor and ambassador of the Trailblazer+ Programme working closely with enke to bring Trailblazer+ to more youth. Miriam is committed to building leaders of today that go from strength to strength in putting SA on track.

Freddy Makuwa

Freddy joined enke in 2017 as the Finance and Administration Manager and was later appointed Head of Operations in 2018. He has a passion for efficiency, continuous learning and process improvement for organisational sustainability. Prior to joining enke, Freddy was in the corporate sector and his experience entailed a combination of operations management, financial management and strategic planning. Freddy holds a B. Accounting Degree from Africa University. Freddy's vision is for enke to maximise its social return on investment to its partners, widen its impact on its beneficiaries while remaining a great place to work for its employees. In his spare time, Freddy enjoys gardening, cooking and travelling. He is also an avid Formula 1 fan.

Mrs. Kgomotso Mufamadi

Mrs. Kgomotso Mufamadi is a lecturer at the University of Johannesburg in the Departments of Procedural and Mercantile Law. She was appointed to the faculty in 2015. Ms Mufamadi is also CEO and Director of Business Development of SpreadLuv Movement, a non-profit organisation focused on providing effective career guidance to learners at under-resourced schools in the province of Gauteng. She has worked as a legal researcher for former Justice Kate O'Regan, current Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng and the late former Chief Justice Arthur Chaskalson of the Constitutional Court of South Africa. She is a fellow of both Brightest Young Minds and the Aspen Institute's African Leadership Initiative. She is also the 2014 recipient of the Inyathelo Youth in Philanthropy Award in addition to being named one of Mail and Guardian's Top 200 Young People to Watch in 2015. Kgomotso holds a Diploma in Social Entrepreneurship from the Gordon Institute of Business Science and practiced at Cheadle Thompson Haysom Inc in Johannesburg for 4 years. She has been the head of SpreadLuv for 8 years. Kgomotso holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Law, a Bachelor of Laws degree and a Masters in Law degree (Intellectual Property and Media Laws) all from the University of the Witwatersrand. She is a member of the Charities Aid South Africa Board of Directors and is the chair of its Governance Committee.
