Elizabeth Thomson

Elizabeth's passion is to write about science and technology advances for a general audience. For more than 20 years she did just that at MIT where, among other positions, she was chief science writer for the MIT News Office. In addition to writing hundreds of press releases about everything from a robotic boat inspired by penguins to a new technique for monitoring the fetal heartbeat, she proactively shared the news with journalists from around the world. She also managed the MIT News Office's planning for Nobel Prizes awarded to MIT faculty, putting those practices into place and writing press releases for five MIT winners. Now a science writer and publicist, her clients include MIT, Texas A&M, UC Davis, and BioBright (a startup creating tools for the smart laboratory of the future).
