JACK OF THE WOOD

Tucked in a small corner at the Jack of the Wood pub, Asheville's second brewery, Benefit Brewing, opened in 1997. Joe Eckert and Joan Cliney-Eckert co-owned the brew pub operation with Jonas Rembert and Andy Dahm as the brewing team. Jonas and Andy eventually left in 1999 to start the French Broad Brewing Co. The Jack of the Wood brewery then took the name Green Man brewing operating for years until the brewery found new ownership and moved to Buxton Avenue - becoming the first brewery in the now-busy South Slope brewing district... Established in 1997, Jack of the Wood was one of downtown Asheville's first pubs and the original home of Green Man Brewing. We serve a great selection of whiskeys, 18 rotating taps featuring local & international craft brews, and an award-winning menu of comfort food favorites & elevated pub fare.
