Albert J. A. Young

Albert J. A. Young, a principal in the firm since 1989, has worked for the firm continuously since the age of 15, with the exception of a brief clerkship at a Baltimore law firm and a post-graduate judicial clerkship. Mr. Young is a graduate of The John Carroll School, where he received the John Carroll Award, "presented by the administration and the faculty to the Senior boy and girl who, in their judgment, have made the greatest contribution in the area of school spirit and involvement." He is a graduate of Washington College in Chestertown, Md., where he received the Clark-Porter Medal ("awarded to the student whose character and personal integrity, in the opinion of the faculty, have most clearly enhanced the quality of campus life"), served two terms as Student Government Association President, and was inducted into the Omicron-Delta-Kappa Honor Society "in recognition of conspicuous attainments and service in collegiate activities." While at Washington College, Mr. Young was Resident Assistant, a member of the Judiciary Committee of the College, served on the Academic Counsel of the College, and was an Intern at the Maryland General Assembly. Mr. Young received his law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1984, where he was a Finalist in the National Appellate Advocacy competition and served on the Moot Court Board. Before joining the firm, Mr. Young served as Law Clerk to the Hon. Edward A. DeWaters, Jr., later Chief Judge of the Third Judicial Circuit of Maryland. In 1992, the Harford County Executive appointed Mr. Young Chairman of the Harford County Environmental Land Preservation Commission, and, in 1999, to the Task Force on Cellular Communication Towers. Mr. Young specializes in the areas of Commercial and Residential Real Estate, Estate Planning and Administration, Land Use, Business Litigation, and Corporate and Business Law. He is a frequent speaker and lecturer on estate planning to professional groups, Bar Association Continuing Education, senior citizen groups and government retirement programs. He has handled many of the largest probate estates in Harford County, and has represented buyers, sellers, developers and builders in a wide range of residential and commercial projects. He has also represented most of the cellular communications carriers and utility companies in connection with land use and zoning issues. Extremely active in land preservation, Mr. Young has represented more applicants to the Harford County Agricultural Land Preservation Program than any other representative or attorney. He was named Preservationist of the Year by the Harford County Executive in 2005. Along with his wife, Mr. Young was named Harford County's Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser of 2013 by the Association of Fundraising Professionals of Maryland, Harford County Chapter. He is a member of the faculty of the Keenan Trial Institute (formerly the Keenan Ball Trial College) in Atlanta, Georgia, where he teaches trial preparation skills to practitioners from across the country. In recognition of his being, in the words of Keenan Administrative Dean Tony Seaton, "the person we can always count on to teach, to be solid in his instructional methods, and to be dependable," Gus Brown was unanimously chosen as the 2019 Faculty Member of the Year by the Keenan Trial Institute. Augustus F. Brown was the only attorney from Harford and Cecil Counties to join the pool of volunteer Trial Lawyers representing victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks. He gave hundreds of hours to successfully gain compensation for victims and their families. In conjunction with the Harford County Bar Association, Mr. Brown helps secure pro bono legal services for eligible citizens in Harford County and Cecil County, and helps raise funds and personnel to handle landlord-tenant disputes, bankruptcies, domestic violence cases and more. Since 1999, Mr. Brown has been a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, an honor limited to the top 1% of all attorneys in the United States. Because of his skill, integrity and experience as a trial lawyer, he was also selected as a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. In 2017 he received the Lifetime Achievement Award and status as one of America's Top 100 Attorneys. He is a SuperLawyer, a DIPLOMATE of the American Association for Justice (only the 118th attorney in AAJ history ever to have achieved this status), one of the Best Lawyers in America, and for over twenty-five years has maintained the highest (A/V) rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the acknowledged attorney rating service. A member of the 9th generation of his family to reside in Harford County, Mr. Brown has been a principal in the firm since 1985. He is the grandson of A. Freeborn Brown, Jr., and the son of A. Freeborn Brown, III. He is a former Board Member of both the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association (of which he was President from 1993-1994), and the Maryland Criminal Defense Attorneys Association (of which he was President from 1990-1991). Mr. Brown serves as Chair of the Character Committee for the 2nd Appellate Circuit (Harford and Baltimore Counties), on behalf of the Maryland State Board of Law Examiners. From 1992 through 2006 and from 2011 to the present, he has served as a member of the State Appellate Judicial Nominating Commission, recommending state Appellate Judges for appointment. Active in community and educational affairs, Mr. Brown is often asked to testify before the General Assembly in Annapolis concerning legal issues which affect consumers. Mr. Brown is a frequent speaker, presenter, moderator and former Governor of the Board of the American Association for Justice (AAJ - formerly ATLA); his AAJ and ATLA seminars have included personal injury litigation, jury selection and communicating with jurors. Mr. Brown received his undergraduate degree from Villanova University, and was a Magna Cum Laude graduate from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1974, where he was a recipient of the Heuisler Honor Society Award for academic scholarship. Edward V. Curry, III

Edward V. "Ned" Curry, III, joined the firm in June of 2014. He is a graduate of the University of Baltimore, and received his Juris Doctor degree Cum Laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law in May, 2003, where he placed in the top 20% of his class and won Highest Grade in Class Honors in Contract Law. Before joining Brown, Brown & Young, Mr. Curry was Senior Assistant State's Attorney, Circuit Court Division, in the Office of the State's Attorney for Howard County, Maryland, where he prosecuted defendants accused of felonies such as murder or arson, and where he served as Lead Counsel for all aspects of criminal litigation, including pre-trial and post-trial motions, witness interviews, plea negotiations and litigation strategy planning. A vigorous and experienced courtroom attorney, Ned Curry has also had significant experience in the Howard County District Courts, where from 2004-2007 he handled thousands of criminal citations and serious ("incarcerable") traffic cases such as DWI, DUI, reckless driving, endangerment, and more. His trial experience also includes prosecutions for assault, theft, drug-related matters and frauds of all kinds. Mr. Curry has drafted memoranda and recommendations for case dispositions for both criminal and civil cases, researched the law on motions and trial strategies, reviewed and calculated civil judgments, and has drafted judicial opinions.

Jacqueline A. M. Delisle

Jacqueline Anne Moore Delisle, a principal in the firm since 2006, is licensed in both Maryland and Virginia. She focuses her practice in Real Estate Acquisition and Development representing local and regional clients, in both residential and commercial projects. As a former Assistant Harford County Attorney for the Departments of both Planning and Zoning and Licensing and Permits, Ms. Delisle draws on substantial experience with the local zoning, development and permitting regulations to favorably position her clients' projects within the approval process. As part of her real estate practice, she also works with preservation and conservation clients, including projects to secure conservation credits for agricul- tural and other easement programs. Ms. Delisle's Business Law clients include both established companies and "start-ups," where she assists owners in initial organization (LLC/corporations), asset purchases/sales, and with their company's ongoing needs, including employment issues. Ms. Delisle also works with non-profit organizations, including museums, with governance and collections policies. She provides Estate Planning (including wills and powers of attorney), as well as Estate Administration services. Maureen Sentman Danos

Maureen Sentman Danos joined the firm in August 2014. She concentrates her practice in the fields of adult guardianships, elder law, estate planning, estate administration, land use, land conservation, and general business and real property law. She was selected as a SUPER LAWYER RISING STAR in the field of Elder Law for 2020, 2021 and 2022, and provides seminars and lectures covering various adult guardianships and estate planning topics. She routinely serves as a court-appointed guardian and as a court-appointed investigator in contested guardianship matters. During her tenure with the firm, she has argued before the Maryland Court of Special Appeals, and has successfully litigated cases before several Orphans, District, and Circuit Courts throughout the region. Over the years, she has most enjoyed honing her skills to better assist families of individuals with special needs, and to help families and small business owners achieve their estate and succession planning goals. Maureen Sentman Danos is a magna cum laude graduate of Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland, where she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society, Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society, and received the Holstein Prize for Ethics. She earned her Juris Doctor degree jointly with a Master's Degree in Environmental Law and Policy, cum laude, from Vermont Law School in May of 2013. Before joining Brown, Brown & Young, Ms. Danos was a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable William O. Carr, Administrative Judge of the Circuit Court for Harford County.
