Music has always been a big part of Jon's life and his first experience with the art was as a musician. In playing impromptu gigs and generally being around lots of different bands and musicians Jon discovered he had an ear for sound. He would go to shows and soon find himself behind the scenes helping musicians set up their instruments and getting the sound hooked up. This knack for sound inspired Jon to start dabbling in making his own instruments. When Jon moved back to his home state of Maine to begin his own carpentry business he looked up an instrument designer he had long admired for his innovative perspective and achievements in the sound industry, Ned Steinberger. After a few meetings, Ned asked Jon to help in building some prototypes for NS Design, and later to head up the NS Design Custom Shop. Working with Ned, Jonathan has had an invaluable opportunity to evolve his craft to a professional level.
