Ms. Higgins has substantial experience in both private law firm and in an in-house, corporate context. She has litigated a wide variety of cases during her career, with emphasis on real estate and construction cases, complex business litigation, Homeowners Association related matters and employment/discrimination claims. Ms. Higgins served as Vice President/Senior Counsel for a well-known, global commercial real estate firm where she handled her own caseload of real estate litigation and transactional matters. In this position she also dealt with employment issues, advised employees and management, conducted risk management sessions, and monitored outside counsel retained by the company. She has also worked on residential real estate matters in a private law firm setting.
Mr. Loewenthal is one of the founding Partners of Loewenthal, Hillshafer & Carter, LLP, a firm which specializes in representing community associations in Southern California. His practice includes representing associations as both plaintiffs and as defendants in litigation matters ranging from construction defect litigation to actions to enforce association governing documents, providing general counseling to associations, drafting and amending of governing documents and contracts.
Mr. Loewenthal has lectured on various topics effecting community associations through the Greater Los Angeles and Channel Islands Chapters of the Community Associations Institute, California Association of Community Managers, and organizations promoting education concerning the operation of community associations. Such lectures include Annual Legal updates; Insurability Issues; Navigating through Litigation, Construction Defect Litigation; Construction Contract Negotiation; Running effective Board Meetings, Living in a Homeowners Association, etc.
Mr. Loewenthal has published numerous articles including: The Ten Key Points to a Construction Contract, Pros and Cons of Construction Defect Cases, Business Judgment Rule or Objective Standard of Reasonableness, How to Deal with Neighbor Disputes, Navigating through Litigation, Duties and Obligations of Board of Directors and Running Effective Board Meetings.

James Theodosopoulos has had previous experience in insurance defense litigation, knowing the ins and outs of the litigation world now from both sides, for the Plaintiff and Defendant. He has litigated a wide variety of cases including Construction Defect, Personal Injury and Homeowners Association related matters. James previously had worked at a large insurance defense firm, getting to know his clients very well, providing zealous representation, communicating with insurance carriers, while gaining vast knowledge in drafting law and motion work.

Mr. Carter has more than nineteen years of experience handling many forms of complex litigation, with an emphasis on construction defect, community association, real estate, and business litigation. Mr. Carter's practice also includes significant real estate transactional work. Mr. Carter is admitted to practice before all California Courts and U.S. District Court Central Division and has had great success at both the trial court and appellate levels. In both 2013 and 2014, Mr. Carter was named by Southern California Super Lawyers as one of the top real estate attorneys in California and has authored numerous articles relevant to his fields of practice.
