New Sweden Mutual Insurance Company was founded on March 28, 1882. 130 years after Benjamin Franklin started the first mutual insurance company in the United States covering rural farmers around Philadelphia. Our policyholders own the company and the goal is to always provide excellent service at an affordable cost... Originally, New Sweden was able to write insurance in the country of Nicollet within 10 townships. We now provide property and casualty insurance in 19 counties and 2 large cities in Minnesota.
